As bad as Stanley is, he's still a tier ahead of Bauer.

Again, not as a fighter.

Too bad Fleury does not make more/better use of his size. If he was more physical and a bit of a fighter I don't think we would be debating about Stanley any more. Of course, if Fleury was that guy we would not have been able to get him so cheaply.

There is a law of diminishing returns there...let's sign Mikey Tyson, he can fight.

Fleury, Miller, and Sammy could play with a bit more of an attitude as well.

I've heard that about Samberg a few times and find it strange. He doesn't go for big hits a lot but the guy is ruthless in net front battles.

I like defensemen that play with a chip on their shoulder. Don't get me wrong, I love Sammy as a defenseman.

I don't either.
I only mention him when someone says that Stanley is needed for his fighting. If you are going to have a designated fighter, at least have a good one.
People probably forget that Chris Thorburn was the designated fighter for the Jets for years, and got that nose because he took a few more than he gave. It's more about the battle than the fight.

Fighting is irrelevant, especially staged fighting. Guys like Reaves, Rempe, Xhekaj they aren't making any difference on the scoreboard.

Bauer has been bad at defense again this year, after being bad at defense last year. Stanley has carved out an NHL career at this point. Maybe it's on the same level as Nathan Beaulieu's but it's still the show.

People should have seen the writing on the wall when he didn't get in the Young Stars, only ELC player on the Jets not to, and didn't get a real shot in preseason, in this his final ELC year. Be very surprised if Bauer comes back for another year, because the Moose should be trying to upgrade that defense.

When you talk about successful Moose teams, the last time the Moose had a winning record was 2 seasons ago, with a defense of Heinola-Lundmark, Chisholm-Gawanke, Sauntner-Dean Stewart, and Tyrel Bauer as a #7.

The year before that the Moose had Samberg and Kovacevic for much of the year beyond that top 4. And both those teams lost in the 1st round anyways, with Salminen (2023) and Berdin (2022) in net in respective years.

Last time the Moose won a playoff series they had Comrie in net.

Last time a Jets affiliate went anywhere was the 2014 Calder Cup finalists St. John's Ice Caps, with Lowry, Morrissey (who was reassigned after his junior season), Chiarot, O'Dell and Hutchinson all playing their part as prospects.
