Would a less physical Peter Forsberg be a good comparison for McDavid?

Mcdavid is a much better skater and doesn't rely on puck protection nearly as much. He's more like a hybrid of Steven Stamkos and Henrik Sedin. Stamkos's frame and athleticism, Sedin's patience and vision, with a little bit of Crosby's ability to take the play to the opposition.

Would be unreal for the Leafs to somehow win the lottery and get him.

I've made this post before...but can you imagine buffalo is last and Toronto wins the lottery? The Canadian phenom on Toronto...and the top american in buffalo? Imagine that outdoor game...hell imagine those home and homes...For 15 years.

Someone tweeted out that McDavid is on a better pace than Crosby's 04-05 season and is on pace for 200 points. >_>

I think I saw a tweet that said that Crosby had 27 points in first 10 games of his draft year, vs. 29 points for McDavid. That is 2.7 PPG vs a 2.9 PPG

Crosby finished with a 2.71 PPG through the whole season.

I don't think McDavid will have that PPG by the end of the season, though.

Can someone explain to me why McConnor is expected to be Crosby-level when he joins the NHL, which I guess means 100+ pts rookie season as a 18yo and then a well over 1.2 PPG pace? What makes him different from other highly touted prospects? Or is that just hype and he realistically going to be on the Stamkos-type level and be a steady PPG pace from the start.

These are just projections relative to Crosby's production in junior, coupled with how they play the game in a similar fashion.

It's just the way he plays. He has the complete skill set, the vision, the motivation (well, probably the motivation) to improve, the student + winner mentality combination. He has a presence on the ice that few players can match. He always seems to be at the right place, know what to do in any situation, pulls off plays that other players wouldn't, etc. It's not for nothing that he has been highly touted for several years already. He always seems a level (or 3) ahead of his competition. He's just a complete package that, IMO, none of the players since Crosby have had. I know that's not a great explanation, but sometimes you just look at someone play and you know : they have that untouchable aura about them. I don't feel that way about Stamkos or Tavares, no matter how good they are.

I'm not saying he will absolutely dominate the NHL and be as good or better than Crosby. But he has the best chance of anyone that has come between those 2. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he ended up with a better career than Crosby if he can stay healthy and continue his progression in the NHL like Crosby did (besides the injury troubles he has had). Time will tell.

3 points tonight. Now at 8-17-25 in 9 games.

Not even 3 PPG, bust :sarcasm: (queue 5 points next game)

I was pretty close lol

*EDIT : Before anyone says it, yes I am fully aboard the hype train for this guy.

He won't get 100pts at 18 because the NHL scoring is lower than Crosby's season so that's a unrealistic expectation. I mean the only person that is expected to get 100pts in the NHL these days is Crosby himself.

But if he is as good as Crosby like some posters are suggesting then he should be in the top 10 in scoring his rookie year with 80~ points. Then lead the league his second year.
