Imagine how good every point must feel for him. Every point means proving people wrong, living up to expectations and not letting the pressure get to him. I'd imagine that's why hes cellying a lot more this year.

What?

Proving people wrong, what are you talking about. 99% of every knew he was going to be a star since he was 13 years old. He doens't have to prove anyone wrong, he is proving everyone right.

+27 . . . . lol. He is on pace to be like +125 over a 60 game season, though I doubt he gets that high. He has a pretty good chance of surpassing Crosby's +78 though.

The people on HF have given up on him since his first OHL season. He was PPG, and people were like "Tavares was so much better in his first season, he's not even on Tavares's level"

I said that just watch he is PPG, will be 1.5 PPG next season and everyone was like

And when he was 1.5 PPG, people said "Tavares was better at 16 and how's he gonna be better than Crosby when he's not even better than Tavares?"

I said he's not done he will do 2.5 PPG next season, and people again were like "umm no, i'll believe it when i see it. Connor Brown and Dave Fox are gone, so he will be worse."

And he is at 3PPG and some people still don't believe that he is the best prospect since Mario. Crosby and Tavares developed faster but McDavid is gonna be better even if his development is taking a little longer.

Here are some depressing numbers for Canes fans. McDavid has played 13 games and has 13G, 25A, 38 Points.

If I go back the last 10 years and look at ALL of the players the Canes have drafted in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd round that are still with the organization (Canes, Checkers, Everblades, Junior, etc..)..their totals as of right now for this season?

88 GP, 7G, 22A, 29 points...combined.

Now, I know that scoring in the OHL isn't the same as the NHL or even AHL, some of the players picked (Ladd, JJ, Sutter) or with other NHL teams, and some (Skinner) haven't played many games yet, but that was 31 draft picks over 10 years. Man, do the Canes need a talent like him.

sure. but in the process is he not proving people who thought he wasnt a generational player wrong?

I have to wonder if those who thought that he wasnt really ever seen him play....you only have to see him one time to realize that there is something special about him, something that hasnt been seen since Crosby....

I am soooo sick of the

"oh he's not getting 300 points ! buuust" jokes... like.... wow... they're sooo note funny. There are like 23 jokes in this thread..

How do you feel when you post that? clever? witty? Its really quite annoying.

You must be fun at parties.

One thing I didn't realize was this kid was named the Scholastic Player of the year last year. He had a 92% average!

Not only is this an indicator of his smarts, but it shows his work ethic. He maintains such a high level of effort on the ice, and clearly that has translated over into other areas of his life. I see this kid, being as good as Crosby, it appears he is the total package (skill, determination, smarts).

I dont think this kid skates only 10 times during the off season.

Eh, I wouldn't think much into that, I was upgrading and took a class with Michael Stone sat beside him and everything got better marks on him then all the exams yet he somehow finished the class with a higher average then me. All the Hitmen players went there and there was rumor of the team giving the school a "donation." In order to give the players high marks.

Heck if you were teaching the "next" Sidney Crosby are you going to give him bad marks? probably all of his male teachers go easy on him if they are hockey fans.

I have to agree. It's getting a little old, guys.

Incredible. Hockey's next poster boy.

Crosby is 5'11 and has excellent lower body strength to allow him the great balance he has. McDavid is already 6'1 and a phenomenal skater with a few more pounds to grow into. I wonder if McDavid could reach that lower body power level of Sid. It would make him immoveable when he's battling you.

I hope to god he doesn't go to Edmonton. Carolina even... don't think they appreciate him there as the hockey market there is pitiful. I'm rooting for Buffalo or Calgary to land him.

I don't know why anyone still has Calgary finishing in the bottom 3. They've been pretty good, and are well above .500. This is despite missing key players at various times. I think the new coaching regime has been important. I see Calgary falling just short of a playoff spot.

I'd like to see McDavid go to Buffalo. They are such a sad, defeated team right now, and McDavid seems like a natural winner. Just his attitude would pick that team up.

What McDavid has done this season has been pretty incredible, but I just had a few questions regarding his 2014-15 season and Crosby's 2004-05 season.

- I think someone in one of these threads listed the average goals per game for the QMJHL in Crosby's draft year and the OHL so far this season and I believe the OHL had 1+ goals more scored per game. Will that be a significant factor in comparing these two players? Also does anyone know where I could find those stats?

- In terms of teammates, it seems like McDavid has superior teammates than Sid did. Will that be used against him in this comparison or will it be even more impressive if he can get clear of Strome and finish well ahead of 2nd place on his own team, in the same vein where Gretzky was on stacked Edmonton teams but still blew 2nd place on the Oilers out of the water?

^I'm not sure what kind of team mates Crosby had but McDavid's wingers are a 2016 elgible rookie and a '95 born free agent.

McNuck. Just imagine all the mcnuggets he'll sell.

Sometimes, I wish the Sedins were injured. Of all the years to tank, this would be the year.
