This is silly. Easily he could end up at that rate? Based on what? The endless possibilities of the universe? It could happen but its much more likely he is a top center by the time he turns 19 than he has jason spezza's career.

Jason Spezza was a top centre for years, so idk what you're talking about.

That's why initially I gave him a 10C+/B-. That way he can't fall to an 8, and it's more likely he ends up a true generational talent

Caught most of the 3rd period, gotta say he's got incredible speed & acceleration. In that time he had 2-3 breakaways and a goal. Has Bure type skating and puck control.

Yea, Spezza was a dominant offensive player for years. If McDavid were to top off there it wouldn't be too terrible. Obviously his potential is higher, but Spezza was an elite center at his peak.

Second goal was another beauty, absolute snipe on a great goalie. He's got a good shot, just doesn't use it much.

With four points tonight, Connor McDavid now on pace for 175 points this season (assuming he misses 8 games for WJC).

Spezza would be much more respected on HF if he stayed healthy those few years in Ottawa and put up 100+ point seasons because he was well on pace for it.

What number McDavid thread was it when people had concerns about his goal scoring ability and pointing out his numbers were worse than Tavares?

I don't think you understand how the ratings work.

He said he would be a 10B (I would personally say C, I dont see him actually being generational).

This means that he has the POTENTIAL to be the best player in the world, but by the end of his career, could end up "just" being your typical 1st line centre.

If he were given a 10A, this would mean he would definitely be a generational player.
Yes he is a generational prospect. This is known.

Gets 4 points tonight (2g,2a) for 38 points in 13 games, for an average of 2.93 ppg.
Didn't have a 6 point night, and he isn't averaging 3 points a game, nor is he on pace for 200+points
This guy is clearly a bust and may even fail harder than Alexandre Daigle!

That's exactly what I said, that is prospect grade is a 10, as he has all the tools to be a generational player. Still remains to be seen if he can be one at the NHL level.

I don't see it, but definitely a top 10 player.

I hate to drop a Crosby reference, but I'm going to anyhow!

One thing that was really impressive about Crosby second year in the QMJHL was the way he exploded after the WJC.

During the second half of the season right up until the Memorial Cup, Crosby just seemed to explode and take his game to another level.

I think McDavid has done that this year for the start, the question is does he have another gear? Will the WJC have the same kind of effect it did for Crosby. I am really looking forward to McDavid's second half of the season.

You said this is the same sentence as you were talking about his prospect rating. I guess I'm supposed to think you are talking about anything but him as a prospect at that point. :shakehead

I thought since I said he was a 10, and 10 means generational, that it was pretty obvious.

Sorry for your confusion.

Here's the shorty where McDavid beat the Plymouth D and then Nedeljkovic:

Finally seeing that second gear from him that I didn't notice as much last season, he's been some impressive so far, I really hope he keeps this up.
