Exactly, but if there are any teams that deserve a talent like him, it's one of Calgary, Nashville, Phoenix, Buffalo or Winnipeg.

Go into the corner and think on your crimes.:naughty:

The Leafs deserve him over anyone in the league.

In their entire history, i cant say they ever had a talent that could separate himself from the pack like that.

As in a bona fide, elite star, and we are going on what now, a 100 years.:help:

Charlie Conacher, possibly Syl Apps if not for WWII.

The fact that I have to bring up WWII means it's been awhile though.

You don't think lindros has extraordinary skill?

Yes, I would say that about Lindros. Like I wrote, a great player. But it was clear when he was belong drafted, that he wasn't in the same league as Gretz, Mario or Sid, or Orr.

They couldn't wait til the season's done to make a claim like this? I haven't seen the kid play, but I highly doubt he'll be better than Crosby. It would be great for the game if he was though, seeing someone better than Crosby now in the NHL would be something special.

He's the best prospect I've ever seen in the OHL by quite a bit. I think he'll atleast be as good as Crosby.

I think Sportsnet magazine is irresponsible for putting this much expectation for the kid. Yes he's an amazing talent but this headline is unnecessary.

And for the people who absolutely love stats and haven't even watched the kid play. He was dominant in year one. In the 2nd half of his rookie season his coach limited his ice time to prevent injury because he knew his team wasn't making the playoffs. If you actually want to comment on his game trying watching him play first. You can't measure a kids talent based on accolades and statistics trying measuring performance. I do believe he is a generational talent, but the hype is unnecessary. What separates him from his peers is his Hockey IQ. The kid has an unbelievable knowledge of the game and has great anticipation. Watch for yourself.

... At least? Crosby currently plays at a higher pace in the NHL than McDavid in the OHL...

Tavares, McKinnon and now McDavid. It will be interesting to see how things unfold, but I think people tend to forget what kind of player Crosby was in his junior days.

Not to derail the convo, but obviously hindsight makes us look at it differently... Lindros ceiling clearly wasn't set low when he was drafted. He was definitely projected to be a possible "Next one". Obviously didn't pan out as so, but a team basically sold off parts to a team to build a Stanley Cup winner BEFORE he stepped into an NHL game.

"FIRE ROLSTON!" lol heck no. I want the Sabres to suck hard for 2 more years so they can have a shot that elite franchise player like McDavid.

That's a little bit of an exaggeration. Crosby is the best player since Jagr, maybe even Lemieux. This is a guy who won an Art Ross, Hart, and Pearson at the age of 19. Only three players have had a higher career PPG average and two of those players are Gretzky and Lemieux

They're just trying to sell magazines. If the title read,"connor mcdavid: the prospect who might possibly but probably won't be as good as Crosby," it wouldn't have created as much of a buzz. It's just ridiculous to say that any prospect at 16 will be the best player in the world.

I honestly don't think he will be anywhere close to Crosby.

The hype around him is actually a bad thing imo because when he inevitably does not make it to Crosby's level people will ask what happened.

He basically has Crosby's brain in Ovechkin's body. Let's just leave it at that.

Hopefully Chicago gets him somehow. They've been dragged along for way too long without a legitimate 2C. I mean Handzus? Come on. Sharp-McDavid-Hossa should be a pretty good 2nd line for them.

Well if the amazing Connor McDavid is really the second coming of Sidney himself then why would he be relegated to Chicago's second line? Presumably, someone with his Crosby-level skill would be better than Toews.

Have you guy ever heard of Erik Lindros the guy was mentioned in evey newspaper in Canada he was so good at 18 yrs old he played for Team Canada with Wayne Gretzey and company. He had so much power he forced Quebec to trade his rights.Conner might be the next one but as an 18 yrs old very few were as Big as Lindros in OHL

I hope Nonis goes up to Mactavish now and overpays for Edmonton's 2015 1st round pick. It'll pay off when the Oilers finish last and the Leafs get the reap the benefits of McDavid for the next 20 years :D
