Well are you hiding the new footage from the rest of us? lol

Think what I am looking forward to, and very surprised I havent read this before…Sam Bennett and Connor are good friends. Looking forward to their rivalry and the Battle of Alberta.
Yeah I'm pretty sure they were line mates in midget. Would have been interesting to see them together if we had picked Bennett, and Bennett was the player I wanted at the time. Draisaitl has grown on me though and I like his play style as a fit better on the Oilers as Bennett was more of what we have.
While I don't disagree on Draisaitl, I don't see anyone on the Oilers who even remotely resembles Bennett.
It's pretty bad when I can tell the exact scoring play after a fraction of a second in these videos. I must have watched him score the same goal vs Plymouth over 100 times. You'd think it would get old . . .
For me his worst case scenario is Hawerchuk and his best case is a poor mans Gretzky.
holy **** a worse case scenario of dale hawerchuck is really high, i doubt mcdavid ends up being a lot better than him statistically, a poor mans gretzky wont happen, I think his best case scenario is a slightly better crosby
For a current NHLer I'd say Stamkos with a lesser shot but better hockey iq is McDavids floor, elite but not earth shattering offense but low end 200ft game. His ceiling is essentially anything he wants it to be, he's a better physical specimen than Crosby was at that age with all the same tools, if he builds strength and fills out and improves on his already fantastic game its hard to say what he can do really, his ceiling IMO is a poor man's Gretzky, it just depends what those words mean to you.
What if at 20-22 he's putting up 130 points while 2nd place is 80-90 points(I'm not saying it WILL happen I'm asking what if), due to the difference in scoring in the NHL at both times would that be seen as almost as good as Gretzky?
So much grey area.
Ooooh boy, this is lofty as heck. I think he has the potential to equal Crosby, but beyond that I'm not sure. It's funny that Hawerchuck is mentioned here, because Hawerchuck's quote was quite interesting (about MacDavid). He said something to the effect of "He skates like Orr, has vision like Gretzky, and stick handles like Lemieux". I have to agree with that. I think his talent is limitless. I truly feel he is the best prospect I've seen since Crosby, but may be even better. He's just a ridiculous talent. As an Islander's fan, I've seen what landing an elite talent can do for a team. John Tavares has turned our team's fortunes around. Is he the pure sniper he was in juniors, no, but he's turned out to be one of the best playmakers in hockey. MacDavid to me is on a higher plane, a whole other level. JT was a better sniper, but has turned into the Hawerchuck of this generation. MacDavid is more Gretzky-like, with more speed !!
Man is he gonna be fun to watch. Enjoy him Oiler's fans, he's a generational talent, you won't see one like him for quite some time.
I'll just leave this here...

No chance he even reaches Hawarchuks stats....
You can say that about any player is today's defense-first NHL. Grab any above average player in the 80's and his stats would apparently make him a top player in the league in this era. Of course, we all know no one in the '80's would put up those totals nowadays. Can't really use the stats argument when comparing players of diff eras.
1) How come he's not listed amongst the Oilers prospects? I realize he's going to make the team, but for the time being he's still a prospect, he should be listed on Hockey's Future.
2) What do you guys think his rating should be? Is he a 10, or just a 9 or 9.5?

Connor is 10.0. Has any prospect ever been ranked that high?
He is listed, as a Notable Prospect. He'll be listed in the top 10 once the HF article comes out with prospect rankings for Edmonton. Each writer for each team gets them done at their own pace.
McDavid got a 10.0C actually. And yes, another prospect got that exact same ranking, Crosby.Connor is 10.0. Has any prospect ever been ranked that high?
