Combine-type testing shouldn't knock a top prospect.

He probably knows this testing doesn't make or break his case and just did it because he had to.

Okay. then you can make that case. But you are perhaps aware that isn't what the video you posted is arguing?
100%, but it does support my case saying earlier this month that the CHL has regressed the last 2 years and Bedard's dominance shouldn't be taken as a true testimony of his talent vs the other international players.

Bedard is playing againts kids, who, the last 2 years have been in a lockdown for a good amount of time, probably did not receive the best training they could of have.

The Swedish (Carlsson), has been playing againts men

So you posted something that said the exact opposite of what you are arguing and that's your argument?

Ok, I'll bite. The video is about CHL prospects only. How is this supposed to be evidence that the CHL, as a whole, has regressed?

Please note the very specific question being asked. Simply asking the question is not an implication that your opinion is wrong but I am curious as to how you drew your conclusion.

Man, you're taking me for a journalist or something? I read the headline, the headline seemed good for my case, i posted it. Now if the youtube creator was trying to be cute and deceptive with clickbait titles and thumbnails, its not my fault, take it to the manager upstairs, its beyond my pay grade.

You are certainly displaying the level of analysis that should get you taken seriously on this board.

So much of this post rings so depressingly true nowadays.

Ok watched the video, it does support my case, if he's not one of the better players of the draft how can we expect him to translate his game effectively into the NHL. The youtube said he's the best at using his skills and remain calm.... yes, thats cute in the WHL when you have the space, time and relative strengh to do all that.... however in the NHL, we all know, there's no space, no time and certainly with his body frame, negative strengh.

This is why I trust a guy like Carlsson, who's been developing next to real men with real experience, who's got the frame and the skills to compete with those men. I see a guy like Carlsson playing in the NHL right away and get exactly what i paid for.

But yeah i dint wanted to make this about Carlsson, its my bad.

The Swedish (Carlsson), has been playing againts men in a non totalitarian communistic country ( a.k.a. USSR 1960s "wink" "wink" "wink")
And how do you rationalize the WJC? Both played at it. One was good and the other torched it like no draft eligible prospect has in decades.

Hold on my friend. One played with Team Canada... struggled to win vs Slovakia and din't score a point in the finals vs Czech Rep.

Carlsson dint score a point vs Czech, i give you that.. but to say Bedard torched it... ooooff.

Btw im not an anti-Bedard, i just like Carlsson better, i have more faith in him. Thats all. For me they're equal.

Your case is the CHL has regressed, so Bedard is not as good as previous CHL generational talents. This video shows that the presumptive #1 pick for the 2023 draft was bettered talent-wise by a some other prospects which, if taken without any sort of bias, shows that the CHL is producing a higher level of talent than in previous years.

Bedard had five (5)pts against Carlsson and Team Sweden.

That is one less pt than Carlsson had the entire tournament.

I've really liked Hughes work as our G.m thus far but if we happen to get oh so lucky and nab the first overall again this year and he strides up to the podium and picks Leo Carlsson or anyone else for that matter over Bedard I'll want him fired on the spot. Not next week not...."let's give it a couple of years to see if it works out" right there that day, that minute, gone.

Because it will be clear as a bell he's lost his freakin mind.

Thats cute... and how do you plan on building around Bedard exactly? You trade Suzuki or Caule?

You have a good prospect pool aiming to be really good top 6 forwards. If you're ok with partying ways with your newly assigned Captain, i''m all in. I don't see your captain playing 2nd C and I surely don't see Cole playing on the second line. So you're telling me you're confortable with a smurfs line once again? You know you do that and bedard's life span wont be very long.

This is why a Leo Carlsson will fit like a glove in this current Habs core and you don't need to worry about making no trades. Leo can play on the wing and at C very very comfortably and automatically adds some much needed quality strength on your top 6.

The choice here is really between a Bughatti vs Lamborghini Taurus. Sure the Bughatti is more expensive but you cant use it for day to day. The Taurus is still upper luxuary but is alot more practical and requires less maintenance.

You can't afford to go just for the looks, you need something practical and Leo is just that. He's the Dhalin on forwards.

Why would I have to trade Suzuki or Caufield anymore with Bedard then with Carlsson if he is as good as you say he is? he will be plenty expensive.

And regardless if you would have to or not, you take the best player available, it's silly not to. This isn't some bughatti vs lamborghini argument.............Bedard has shown he is head and shoulders above every prospect aside from Maybe just maybe Michkov, why on earth wouldn't you take this level of player? it's just plain dumb not to. Suzuki, no Suzuki it makes no difference, you would be a dolt not to take the clear top player with the top pick.

Go for the looks? he's the clear best player!! by a mile!!

And let's say you are right and carlsson is better then bedard, according to what you just said here in your post isn't Suzuki gong to have to get used to playing on the 2nd line if that happens?

I'll tell you what;s cute, if Hughes does get the first pick and he doesn't take bedard, that's what would be cute, wait and see what would go down if that happened it, won't be pretty.................for him. Not that it would ever happen because he's not crazy and if he gets the first pick he will be taking Bedard, you can be 100% sure of that,

Cmon, you can't be serious here.

Ok, if a team is trully built around taking the best players available then you would see no enforcers, it would be a league of 5.7" smurfs with low center of gravity that can stick handle, pass and skate better.

Bedard will replace Suzuki, how many more points will Bedard give you over Suzuki? 20-30? is it worth the trouble of braking the core and starting all over again?

Right now you have no one like Leo on your team, a big forward who covers both ends of the rink and is offensively gifted. he has the potential to bring your team to the next level by stabilizing a seat currently empty. You add Leo to the top 6 and you're now 1 player away from having one of the most balanced offensive top 6 of the league.

Bedard is a good choice but comes with a puzzle that will be hard to solve here in mtl.

And let me ask you a question, who would you pick if you had a choice? Dahlin or Bedard?

Can't you stablize your team just as well with bedard as your first centre and Suzuki on your second? that sounds pretty good to me. and who knows? maybe bedard at his size ends up playing wing in the NHL We don't know for sure yet. What we do know is you take the best player available, especially with what looks to be a good bet as being a franchise player, the guy has dominated at every level he's ever played at and always as a younger player......................he will sell tickets and can be marketed like crazy too, it's all win'win. Crazy to pass him up for Leo, doesn't make sense................the gap between them as prospects at this stage is just too wide, you don't gamble like that.

Who would i take between Bedard and Dahlin both at their same age going into this draft?..............Bedard, most everyone else would too I bet.
