Patrick Kane
Kane was considered generational pre-draft? Now you're reaching. He was actually underestimated quite a bit before his rookie season. He wasn't really considered an especially high-end first overall pick, even.

Also, drawing trends from a sample of 1 player is ridiculously unscientific.

That's not what I'm saying.

Unfortunately, the Pats are still an awful team so they suffer a 5 goal meltdown.

I think this is about as top-heavy a roster as I've seen in junior. If their top players don't produce, they're doomed. If their top players produce, they have a 50/50 chance of winning.

Wow big collapse by the Pats blowing the 4-2 lead and losing 6-4.
Pats are mostly garbage. Especially the goaltender. Bedard made 2 great diving plays to keep the puck in the offensive zone in the last 2 minutes but the othere Pats couldn't do anything with their chances.

Okay, so they did that.

And what if another generational player dominates in a different manner? A sample of 2 is completely meaningless for drawing such specific conclusions.

Also, might I mention WJC-u20 domination? Or let me guess, generational players didn't dominate like that so Bedard doing so was a negative? Let me guess, generational players weren't such good goal-scorers, so Bedard being so good at scoring goals means he's not generational? Did you address Bedard being over 50% of his team's scoring while McDavid was 36%, also? Let me guess, Bedard's not generational because he's contributing too much.

You really need to learn something about statistics, you can't concentrate on such ridiculously specific things with such samples. Maybe if there were 3k generational players all of whom were ES scoring machines it'd be enough to draw such specific conclusions from.

You're focused on one single thing ignoring everything else. Seems like you're looking for stats to aid with your conclusions rather than drawing conclusions from stats, aka misuse of statistics.

This pretty much concludes the discussion. There's no logical retort to this post. Well done.

I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that he just may be - may be - the best I've seen since Mario.

What he might be able to do on a better team that is better coached just tantalizes the imagination.

One of the interesting things about Bedard is that he is competing against the reigning CHL player of the year who is playing as a 19/20 year old, something that McDavid and Crosby did not have to face.

Here is how Bedard matches up against Stankoven who is #2 in the WHL in key offensive stats with the 3rd best in parenthesis.

Bedard's PPG is 2.50 which is 12% better than Stankoven's PPG of 2.24 (3rd best 1.72)

Bedard's GPG is 1.23 which is 42% better than Stankoven's GPG 0.86 (3rd best 0.83)

If we take away points scored on the PP:

Bedard's PPG is 1.56 which is 11% better than Stankoven's PPG of 1.41 (3rd best 1.24)

Bedard's GPG is 0.88 which is 33% better than Stankoven's GPG 0.66 (3rd best 0.56)

McDavid in 14/15:

McDavid's PPG was 2.55, his GPG was 0.94. his PPG less PP points was 1.66 , his GPG less PP goals was 0.74

Crosby in 04/05:

Crosby's PPG was 2.71, his GPG was 1.06. his PPG less PP points was 1.67 , his GPG less PP goals was 0.77

That Bedard's GPG is almost 50% of his PPG stands out here. He loses a bit more on the PP but any narrative that his numbers need context is seemingly more than offset with his goalscoring prowess.
