McDavid and Crosby had better supporting casts than Bedard. If he had a bit of help, he would have easily led the WHL in scoring. Not to mention it took the Pats 20 games or so to put him on a line with Howe.

Well I'm sure McDavid's point totals were inflated in the super strong Erie Otters team in comparison to how his scoring would have been had he played on a bottom dweller. I don't understand this logic of "because he has done well in NHL, his scoring was not inflated in CHL".Great players produce regardless. You look at all the all-time great players and they get their points whether or not their teammates or linemates get theirs.
McDavid especially proved that his CHL numbers were not "inflated" due to being on a good team. Crosby has proven he can produce in any kind of situation and with any kind of team.
I am sure Bedard will have plenty of chances to show that he can put up better numbers on a better team but I doubt it.

I watched a lot of McDavid in his Erie days. I am not sure if you did, and saw a completely different player, or if you didn't and are just spitballing here. If you didn't I suggest you go watch some of his Erie highlights on YouTube. McDavid was absolutely unreal every year in Erie and his highlights are video game worthy. He really couldn't be stopped. Scored at will. End to End rushes like it was nobodies business. The strong team around him had less to do with his stats and more to do with his influence on them.Well I'm sure McDavid's point totals were inflated in the super strong Erie Otters team in comparison to how his scoring would have been had he played on a bottom dweller. I haven't see enough of Bedard beyond his highlights, and what I see, I really really like, but to match McDavid in junior would be a lofty feat.

I don't think we will ever see stats like Mario in junior or Wayne in the NHL. The game has changed too much since then. All the players are bigger, faster and stronger. As fantastic as these guys are now, I wonder if we will see stats like Mario?

Juniors still is boys. Bedard himself looks very young still. He has a lot of physical development ahead.I don't think we will ever see stats like Mario in junior or Wayne in the NHL. The game has changed too much since then. All the players are bigger, faster and stronger.
"He's elite hockey sense, elite skill, elite everything," Sullivan said of Bedard. "But when he does get frustrated out there, he's not afraid to give it back, which is a good sign. I compared him to [Hockey Hall of Famer] Marcel Dionne since he played the same way. Guys didn't want to fool around with [Dionne] because he would go right back at them, and yet he didn't have a lot of penalty minutes."
Crosby had Dany Roussin on his line who was not great at all....Crosby himself made Roussin a 2nd round NHL pick and once Sidney was gone he couldnt even cut it in the AHL he went to ECHLMcDavid and Crosby had better supporting casts than Bedard. you are right...i forgot Pouliot was on his line, they switched him from center to wing...True. But at least Roussin has shown he could produce at the Q level. MA Pouliot was also a decent scorer at junior level.
My point really is that Bedard doesn't even have that. Aside from Howe there's not even a decent guy that can score at the WHL level.

i am wondering if Howe is only doing as good as he is because of Bedard...be interesting to see Howe without Bedard...
