51 goals and 100 points in 62 games, good for 4th in WHL scoring after a really slow start. Tanner Howe had 69 points, Nijhoff had 49, Dubinsky had 49, and top-scoring d-man Ryker Evans had 61.

McDavid’s D-1 saw him score 28 goals and 99 points in 56 games, good for 4th in the OHL. Connor Brown had 128 points, Dane Fox had 107, Burakovsky had 87, and top-scoring d-man Adam Pelech had 54 in 60.

Despite the very cold start on the stat sheet, Bedard’s D-1 is really indubitably more impressive.

Agreed. And the Otters were the best team (along with Guelph) that year. The Pats absolutely stunk and couldn't even limp into the playoffs.

Some of the mid January takes on Bedard falling off the generational path are quite entertaining. Amazing season for this kid!

44 goals + 46 assists in his final 48 games.
It’s really quite amazing given (the lack of) what the kid had to work with. It eased off a little as the season progressed with Howe proving to be a genuine threat in himself, but I can vividly remember a few games I watched where it was a mixture of sad and amusing how opposing teams committed their entire defensive strategy on containing Bedard.

I would concur.

Now, hopefully he has got a few Team Canada assignments this spring/summer to prep for an even more impressive draft year. The consensus favorite 1OA.

Kids unreal. He'll absolutely toy with the WJC in August. His draft stock will go through the roof. If he puts in a consistent season next year from start to finish and has some support, look out.

Haven’t checked his thread in a few weeks but I find it comical that he got to 50 goals and 100 points in the last game of the season.

it’s hard to tell based on a junior career alone but I have this gut feeling that he’s going to be a big game player someday, seems to play his best when something is at stake like in the U-18s or even if it’s only something as petty as individual accolades in a game that means nothing.

The takes in the earlier threads of Michkov >>> Bedard are looking awfully silly now

I think any argument with 3 ">s" was always silly.

But the opinion that Michkov > Bedard is far from silly, even with Bedard's excellent close to the season.
That’s not what I said is it? Of course they’re close as prospects. All things being equal Bedard will very clearly end up first overall though due to Michkov contract and the Russia thing.

It was the mostly Russian posters who acted like he was on an entire other planet of prospect due to Bedard’s slow start that look ridiculous

Russian posters can be some of the biggest homers on this site, second only to Finnish homers...

70 goals, 145 points next year?
That would be a truly insane draft year, especially as it’s not like more help is on the way. Howe being a year older will be significant, but top d-man Evans is aging out…the Pats are in a weird spot where they simply have to make moves to strengthen the team for Bedard’s last year to make a playoff run, but they honestly project to still have such a weak roster next year you’d seriously question them giving up futures for short-term help.

All this is to say, I don’t see the point of putting ridiculous expectations on Bedard.

He really needs to play meaningful games next year. As good as his point totals have been since January, he has a lot of work to do on the defensive side of the puck and with puck management. My guess would be that since Regina was so reliant on him for offense that the coaches were fine (maybe even promoted) with the tradeoff that his cheating for offense sometimes created.

There is buzz that if the Blazers are selected to host the 2023 Mem Cup that he could be moved there is Regina starts slow next season. He would greatly benefit from being on a team that has other weapons so that he is held accountable on both sides of the puck. He seemed to respond well to Cameron's insistence that he play a more responsible game at the WJC if he wanted to work his way up the lineup, so I am confident that he has the capacity to do so but obviously it bodes a lot better for his transition to the NHL if he is tasked with doing so all season, rather than just for a 2 week tournament.

When is the U-18 roster supposed to be announced? I would be shocked if he doesn't go to the U-18's or the men's worlds. With his good friend Wood already confirmed for U-18 and Howe a no-brainer, it would be pretty ridiculous trying to tell him he can't go - unless they think he is ready for the World's.

To preface, I think Bedard is trending to be the GOAT. I know Gretzky is basically untouchable but with what Bedard has been able to accomplish I think there’s at least a chance. Like I expect it to at least be a big 5 of all time instead of a big 4 once he’s done.

I haven’t watched a bunch of highlights of other exceptional juniors so I don’t know how Bedard as a junior compares to the Crosbys, Lemieuxs, Gretzkys etc.

There are some concerns though. A lot of the goals he scores is just him blowing it past goalies. Of course his shot will develop even more but I think NHL goalies will be somewhat better. Also, I don’t know if it’s just that he has nobody to pass to, but he doesn’t rack up assists at a rate that would indicate he’s a supreme passer like the all-time greats were. Plus he’s not big.

But he’s just so impressive and dominant every game when I’ve watched him.

Idk, maybe I’m just optimistic.

I think Regina will hold onto him until the trade deadline to bring in fans and cash in on a generational talent but he won’t have much help until he’s finally traded (for what is bound to be a MASSIVE haul). Regina just doesn’t have nearly enough pieces to warrant keeping him. For that reason I don’t think we’re going to see “that” insane of a season. Expect some foolish numbers after Christmas when he’s inevitably traded though

70 goals is possible but 145 points with time missed for the WJHC and his team mates not sure.

Only a couple of players have scored slightly over 130 points in the last 15 years or so off the top of my head.
