McDavid’s numbers are the most relevant. They are the most recent and their paths are the most similar - exceptional status, dominant u-18’s as 15 year old, world juniors at 16, etc.
I think locking into one player numbers as the main comparable is overly simplistic analysis of it and trying to get a specific result out of it. You can't ignore the remaining pool of players because they didn't end up being labeled generational.

It’s never going to be an exact science - diff leagues, teammates, etc . For those who thinks Bedard has a chance to be generational, it makes sense to compare his numbers to the most recent generational players junior numbers to see how he stacks up - it’s pretty straight forward.

Unless Bedard grows 2 - 3 inches, I can't see him being
"Generational". I hope I'm wrong.

If he turns out to be a smaller version of Matthews / Stamkos, I will be more than happy.

Bedard will likely be a Dionne type player. That's pretty darned good.

Are the Regina Pats really this awful in terms of talent? Bedard seems to be the difference between them being far and away basement dwellers from afar.

I think it's important to note that the Oil Kings are the #2 team in the entire CHL. There's a HUGE talent gap between the two teams. As good as Bedard is, it's difficult to individually carry a team when the opposing team has something like 8 NHL draft picks on it, including several 1st rounders. The Pats have 2 NHL draft picks, both defensemen.

Also just to expand, there's a massive gap this year between the top teams in the league, and the rest. There's Edmonton and Winnipeg (#1 and #2 in the country) and then a pretty big drop off after that. Regina is currently 11th in the East, yet only 4 points out of the final playoff spot. Any of Calgary, Swift Current, Lethbridge, PA, or Regina are going to get easily swept out in the 1st round.

Look at who was in front of him. The list is dominated by Kane and Tavares linemates. Two guys who went 1OA in their respective drafts. And, you were the one saying Tavares would have been thought of as the next one if he continued improving from that season. I'm saying even after that Stamkos was viewed as ahead by a decent amount of scouts. And, I believe Bedard is 6th in points per game of players who have played over 20 games. And, Stamkos was 5th in points per game at 17 while second in the OHL in goals. But, don't let facts get in your way.

Subjective interpretations of stats are not facts. But don't let that fact get in your way.

If you remove Kane and Tavares' teammates from the list, there are still players from six other teams that had higher PPGs than Stamkos. If you are arguing that Stamkos' 16 year old season is statistically on par with Bedard's and McDavid's once you dig deeper, there is no argument that Stamkos' 17 year old season was clearly below McDavid's 17 year old season and he did not separate himself from a number of #1 picks before and after him offensively. He was arguably a better than average #1 pick/prospect of his era but not close to "generational" if Lindros, Ovechkin, Crosby, and McDavid set the bar for that label.

Similar to McDavid, Bedard played as a 15 year old in the CHL, has a notable U18 performance as the the youngest member of Team Canada (the whole tournament?), and is scaring the PPG leaders at age 16 in his CHL season. It is clear he closer to McDavid statistically than to Stamkos.

He also is 1/2 year younger than Stamkos and McDavid, and perhaps younger than that physically.

Well it could if Wood decides to play for them but it's hard to see the support getting any worse.
Wood’s killing the BCHL and is a big kid who could possibly play in the NHL immediately after being drafted. To me, it makes by far the most sense to go to the Pats - a team with a clear need for offensive stars - and get premium usage (and scouting) beside the top prospect in the draft. I could easily see Wood showing out beside Bedard and going as high as top-3.

Howe-Bedard-Wood would be absolutely dominant line. And I agree, Wood would easily enhance his profile playing with the Pats.

I'm pretty sure he's set on college hockey though. At least he could choose a better program than UConn. Michigan should come calling.

I know it’s not what he scored on there but I was impressed by that one timer off the post shortly before his goal. He scores mostly on slick wrist shots from what I’ve seen so I was beginning to wonder if he either didn’t have a one timer or refused to take them, is he perhaps starting to incorporate them into his game more now?

He still needs to grow into his frame and physically mature but as a Canucks fan I know strength isn’t everything when it comes to hard shots. Elias Pettersson’s one timer is as powerful as any in the league despite him being a lanky stick man hahaha,

This game must have been unwatchable on TV, how can they have two teams dress so similar?
