With puck on stick no one like McDavid since Bure. Bedard is still such a baby faced boy. I wonder how much more explosive his skating becomes as he matures? going to still be big improvements in his game, which is kind of amazing, considering how good he is already.
Agree.

The issue here is that McDavid's production took a huge step forward in his 2nd year as he matured physically, while Bedard's production in his 2nd year is actually significantly lower than it was in his 1st.

I think the sample size, especially last year, is not fair to compare. I bet you could cherry pick 15 games from McDavid’s 15 year old season and find something similar. Bedard is better now. The skating has taken a big step.

In McDavid's best 15 game stretch in his ohl rookie year, he put up 20 pts. Don't throw false information in the air like that.

Who was better at 16 Tavares or McDavid?

I think some people will confuse OHL player (based on production) to NHL prospect (based on skill set) as those are 2 different questions.

The answer to the second part was McDavid clearly.

Bedard isn't generational but IMO he just might be a better prospect than JT was come draft day.

I didn’t claim it as a fact. It was just a guess. You’re right, McDavid was remarkably consistent his during his exceptional status year.

This. The fact that he ignored your correct point says volumes. Tavares at 16 broke Gretzky's record in the OHL. People forget Tavares is the very reason there is an exceptional rule in the first place.

Didn’t ignore anything. Answered him. Not sure how you missed this.

You are another that is looking to make excuses for a player playing junior and then wants to put the most exclusive level of hype that could apply to a player onto this kid.

This is a comparison of the age 16 year old season. I'm not getting into the any "generational" talk because it's just a word that's being thrown around with everyone having a different definition of what it means anyways.

He's now on a 4 game goal streak, with 3+ points in each of those games. He's really been generating offence at an absolutely elite level all season long, was just snake bitten to start. I expect him to have a very strong finish to the year, and to serve up a lot of crow to his haters/doubters. He's not a McDavid/Crosby level prospect, but he's the next tier down, Matthews/Tavares-ish IMO. Damn, damn good.

It's rare you can say with a 16 year old "this guy is very likely going to be an NHL franchise player", but I feel pretty safe saying that about Bedard.

I would say he is in a weird tier between both, he reminds me of a more dynamic stamkos

McDavid blows Bedard away in almost every category in his 16 year old season. What's your point ?

Bedard is up to 1.29 points per game (CHL+WJC) this season compared to McDavid at 1.63 points per game in his 16 year old season. Bedard is slowly closing that gap.

If he stays this hot and has 4 games that equal his last 4, he’ll be at 1.53 points per game.

…and if he does, he’ll likely be sitting there with a significant edge in goal scoring.

Also keep in mind Bedard is a July birthday, McDavid a January.

The production is worth comparing.

12 assists. His goal scoring is not going to pick up any more then it is and his playmaker isn't on Connors level. He isn't finishing at 1.53.

I don’t think anyone is claiming Bedard is remotely close to McDavid as playmaker. He’s a different type of player.

To start the season, Bedard’s shot production was outrageous and his shooting percentage was laughably low. There was a 12 game stretch where Bedard took 68 shots on goal and scored 3 times (4.4%). If the Bedard we’ve seen the past month continues, it’s a certainty he’ll be close.

Well said.
