I hate to pile on @GeorgeLeafer12, as I usually don’t mind reading your takes, but this is probably the worst one I’ve read.
Hockey is not a complicated game. About 11% of shots are going to in for forwards. Maybe a little more if you have an elite shot, like Bedard. Shoot as much as you can, as long as you aren’t in a bad position to score or don’t have a better passing option. You’ll score more goals that way.

Was at the game, that's easily the best he's looked all year. He's got all sorts of confidence from the WJC tourny, despite how short it was.

Die Hard for Bedard 2023
He actually got robbed a couple times on sure goals. MJ goalie stood on his head today. Several great saves, not just on Bedard, on some great passing plays. Pats had 50 shots in total. Watching Bedard today was probably the best he's looked as well. Almost had a McDavid like goal making a play through the middle of all of MJs players and getting a good shot off. Thinking he might have a slightly better second half to the season...

The hat-trick goal is my favorite.
Connor lights up the goal lamp, like he should, whereas others seem to want to light up a few cigs where they shouldn't.
You can almost freeze the very second when MJ #12 realized oh-oh. I'm in trouble.
Certainly the best prospect I've seen since McDavid. Looking for a big second half to the season.

I doubt that, if he had done it he would’ve scored 4Gs on 4 shots, 13 shots is excessive and only further proves he’s a bad prospect. It’s like the classic Gretzky quote “you only shoot when you will score, or you shouldn’t shoot at all”.

Watching a skilled player do cross-overs, pivots and turns and shoulder drops in slow-mo is such poetry. Connor is a poet.
Shooting % can vary pretty wildly, and of course some players can score on 20% of their shots and for others it'll be as low as 6% or something like that, but there's no question that the more you shoot the better your chances to score are. Also, if you're shooting the puck's probably in the opponent's zone, which is a good thing, and it could lead to possession, rebound or faceoff even if it's an easy save that he has no chance of scoring on.
It's honestly a very strange thing to criticize since I'd say that a player's shot count is one of the most important, projectable things for a goal-scorer. One season they might be at 10%, one season at 25%, but if they're constantly shooting 5 times per game chances are they'll score quite a few goals even during a bad season.
Then of course Ovechkin, the greatest goal-scorer of all time, has his style almost entirely based around attempting as many shots as possible, no matter the quality.

It's sort of emblematic to our times that people break down shooting % and other stats when a kid scores eight goals in two games...Just enjoy the ride.

I think he is tracking to pass Laine, Eichel & Stamkos by the time of his draft, I’d forgotten Lindros too, he was an amazing prospect.
