Let's hope that encore comes at the U18s in the spring and then perhaps a makeup U20 tournament in the summer, but if not, then Siberia it is next Christmas. learn the phrase С Новым Годом, Connor. I'm sure the Russians are planning to schedule a New Year's Eve game Canada v Russia.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but once Bedard made the U-20 WJC, he's considered to be in that group. I've never heard of another player move back down to the U-18.

In 20 years when they are doing the retrospective series of Bedard vs. Michkov, this tease of a tournament will be a big talking point in the first episode.

Happy New Year! Hopefully 2022 is better than 2021 and we can get in a covid free hockey tournament.

Ah, yes, the silly "Graduation Rule" It has been talked about as a Hockey Canada policy, but it is mostly nonsense the same way the can't play a U20 tournament unless you play a U18 tournament first rule is followed. It's selectively applied by Hockey Canada people to explain away roster decisions. It's why they sent Nathan MacKinnon to the Hlinka tournament when he should have been with the U20 group playing 4 games in Russia (2) and Halifax (2). Was there any doubt that Nat would be on the U20 team heading to Ufa that Christmas? It would have been better for Nat and Team Canada in prep for the 2013 WJHC.

Well, same thing for Bedard. Better for him and Team Canada given the challenges the last two covid plagued seasons. He needs more games with the '04 group (many of whom, a few, some, will be on the U20 next year).

If available, and if there are games being had in which he can play, he should be there. As well as Wright. Forget this nonsensical graduation rule.

If you combine the preseason, regular season and the WJC
in 32 games, Bedard has 180 shots on goal so far this season......

Dude really should focus on quality rather than quantity.

Way too many shot attempts. If you have 180 on goal,
that's what? like 6 per game, then how many shot attempts?
its gotta be close to 300, or at least 250.

It is a goal scoring game but you don't have to shoot the puck
all of the time.

If I ran the Vancouver Canucks, my offer for Bedard would be Petterson, Horvat and Boeser.

I am completely serious.

The thing is this winning streak they are undergoing is completely stupid. They are a middle of the pack team and getting this excited over Bruce Boudreau is completely idiotic. Build the team around Bedard, Demko, Hughes, Hoglander and Podkolzin.

You could replace Petterson with Demko as well given how young Petterson is.

Solid take from this guy, as usual.

as usual your analysis runs about as deep as a puddle of spit.

I agree with you! But you know how those old dudes in HC think. I'm just going by past practise. Those underage kids that make the U-20 team, Crosby, McDavid, Spezza...they don't go back to the U-18 group.

He would absolutely dominate this year's u-18. Not sure what it would accomplish if he went to the tournament twice.

I think there will be a Covid exemption for Bedard in these unusual times.

But who knows really it's a weird time and I'm not sure 2022 will be less weird than the last 2 years.

My baby girl who hasn't even been born yet could come with better analysis

I don't really believe that because he dominated a U18 tournament once that to play in another one has no development value...especially because he was a triple underager. If he were a '04 born player and not a '05, I'd probably say, yeah, you're right. better to get in some reps with the men's team at the WHC and get ready for the draft. But another U18 tournament would be beneficial. for him and for us! Go Canada Go.
