Meanwhile Dalibor Dvorsky is ripping Sweden's U20 at 23 points in 13 games as a 16yr old, on pace for a record U17 season in this league. Could a bad season by Bedard make Dvorsky the no 1 pick challenger?

Michkov is at 2+ PPG pace in the MHL...

Oh right, forgot about him. In any case, 1st pick might not be set in stone as we have thought a while back.

Well, Bedard was invisible during first WJC U18 games as well and then had very strong finish. He can have a couple of hatties in the next 10 games, and people will get back to hyping him. The season has just started in NA.

Regina has played the Winnipeg Ice 3 times already out of their 6 games, and they're a top 10 team in the CHL. Bedard will be fine, and I think you'll see his scoring ramp up as they play some of the teams that are more in their weight classes coming up.

0 points and -3 yesterday still doesn't look great, but I agree he'll get back to 1.5-2 PPG scoring pace soon.

I highly doubt he'll get back up to a 2ppg pace at 16 with the improved competition this year, but I'd be very surprised if he doesn't sit comfortably above PPG.

What is up with him ? No news in a week?

He has a goal tonight and 5 SOG.

He is going to be all right, not every hotshot prospect is going to score like crazy all of the time, there will be peaks and valleys in scoring the skills are still there.

1 goal, 8 shots according to the WHL site.

You are correct the game was ongoing and I forgot to post that.

He is still 1.5 years away from his draft and not a huge guy so to expect the same rate of production that happened last year is a tad unrealistic but he is still getting his chances and will score at a PPG rate easily this year and still the 1A for the 23 draft draft along with Michov who is 1B (mainly due to contract obligations unless that changes)

Shows off his skill here on a breakaway at 245

Well, he could end up with Marner's numbers I guess, but the talk about him being a prospect as good as McDavid seems a bit overblown at this point, though he did score identically to him at u-18 worlds.

Frankly it seems to me that Dvorsky is underrated in their draft. He looks to me like the best player in the draft right now, and I have a strong feeling that he will be clearly the best player from that draft when they all have finished their careers. I mean, Bedard and Michkov look like they will both become very good players, but only Dvorsky strikes me as an even generational talent. He seems like an extremely special player with the clearly exceptional hockey IQ in his draft.

Michkov and Bedard will very likely become pretty special players too, but Michkov seems a bit more talented to my taste out of those two. That might be because I really love players that have extraordinary shooting and scoring skills, as well as I love absolutely exceptional playmakers. I’m not that enthusiastic about allaround talents as I’m about talents that have some really special skill or skills.

I don’t think he’s McDavid level either, which certainly isn’t a knock on the kid. However, if people thought he was McDavid level after the U-18s, they certainly shouldn’t be changing their minds based on an 8 game sample thereafter.

Pretty sure Bryan is no longer a prospect.

Could if it makes them change their evaluation of how tough a league WHL was last season.

Even though I’m a huge Dvorsky fan, I think Michkov is the best of the three (Bedard, Dvorsky, Michkov). It’s interesting because these 3 all bring something a bit different to the table. Michkov the goal scorer. Bedard the shifty playmaker and Dvorsky the 2 way center.

I disagree with this. Bedard is mainly a goal scorer at this point and his playmaking, though still a strength, needs to improve if he wants to be considered a McDavid level prospect.

I think even the most casual WHL follower understood the league was watered down last season, and the schedule inflated Bedard’s stats. This doesn’t change the fact that he dominated competition 3,4, even 5 years older than him. The hype really exploded after he tore apart the U-18s as a double underager. These type of performances are usually reserved for special players. HF posters are so quick to jump to conclusions if a player has a cold or hot streak of games; its quite fascinating.

He's an elite shooter shooting a hair under 10% in a league where top prospects regularly shoot in the high teens. He's off to a bit of a slow start but I wouldn't be worried in the slightest. He'll start filling the net soon.
