Its an easy line to walk. If he isn't a generational player, then you can spout how you were lower on Bedard than everyone else and you were clearly right about all his flaws. If he is generational its easy to backtrack and say well I did think he was amazing just wasn't sure what level!
Not really. People here tell me its a bust of a season if he doesn’t get at least 82 pts. Thats what Im going off

Ahhh well if that's what you're going off than no worries.
Bedard will do what he does and time will tell.
Exciting none the less given there is another high potential star coming onto the scene!

That kind of reinforces my point. His average skating will not allow him to do that at the NHL level.
Man I can't wait until Bedard plays the NYR and we get to see the highlights then it will be something like well it was only 2 goals and some shifts didn't pan out into scoring plays ect......

There is doubling down and then there is tripling down BIgdog16 style eh?

You know I said the same thing over a year ago.....he reminds sooooo much of Dionne...an offensive wizard who could make plays out of nothing with a super high compete level. Yeah, maybe not generational (or maybe so) but Chicago would be over the moon if they have the next Dionne in their hands as should any fan of the NHL
Yup. I see several 100+ point seasons for Bedard. Just like Dionne, his crazy good with puck on stick in the attacking zone. I think those younger fans who didn’t see a prime Dionne play don’t realize the comparison of any player to him is a huge compliment. It’s like McDavid reminds me of Gilbert Perrault. These were guys were a couple of the most exciting offensive players of their time. Incredible players.

Anything under 95 points is an utter failure
Good grief Charlie Brown.

Dude are you freaking kidding?

Double and triple down on some really bad takes here.

Given the 95 point metric above the entire NYR team last year was an utter failure right?

So you have come from 55-60 points to Bedard getting 94 points is an utter failure in this thread, pretty hard to take anything serious from this logic.

I was clearly being sarcastic, Charlie Brown.

Hawks fans have experienced plenty of salary cap woes throughout the 2010's - just about every year there was some move(s) required to eek under the cap and still try to sustain a competitive roster - including having to rob from Peter to pay Paul with bonuses having to be taken from the following year budget to pay the current year bonuses.

With the likelihood of Bedard earning up to $3M+ in bonuses in addition to some other ELC players earning bonuses too - this time the Hawks have ample cap space to pay those bonuses from the 2023/24 budget and not need to push them to the following year. We'll see if that still the case for Bedard's 2nd and 3rd ELC year.

60-75 pts. is a reasonable expectation. never mind any of the other HF noise.
60 points now would mean around 50 points in 2013. This is around when Yakupov paced for 53 points over 82 games. So essentially, you're saying it's reasonable to expect Bedard to have a weaker rookie season than Yakupov.

Funny how vast underestimation is seen as reasonable.

Wholly and completely irrelevant. just more hf noise.

Scoring being high currently is irrelevant?

So, yeah. put Jack Hughes's rookie numbers into your much heralded Yakupov converter and tell me what you get. It is irrelevant. Development is a process that takes 3 or 4 years. I'm more interested in what Bedard's numbers will be in year 3. (I'm guessing TOP 3 in scoring) than how his 18 year old rookie season measures up to 19 year old Yakupov's rookie season. a decade ago.
