C Connor Bedard (2023, 1st, CHI) Part 6

And correct me if I'm wrong... but don't the Hawks currently have one of the top 5 ranked prospect pools in the NHL?
I'm sure adding Bedard would move them up a few ranks but none of the prospect pool rankings I can find have them in the top 10 let alone top 5

I found one that has them in the top 10 in literally 30 seconds...

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em

This has PLD written all over it. Everyone knows he’s going to Montreal after his last season as a RFA next year. I’ve never heard a prospect talk so much for his love to the city he’s grown up in. There are probably 10 interviews he mentions the Vancouver Canucks as his favourite team.

Bedard will have the chance to flourish right out the gate. Hawks have cap space to bring in some help to surround him on the wings. Most of us want Kane back as his RW but not sure Kaner wants to wait a few years for more playoff hockey.

So excited to see this kid wearing the Indian head sweater next year and the next 10 plus years. Bedard, Korchinski, Nazar, Reichel, etc. Plus a mountain of 2023 and 2024 picks will turn this ship around much much sooner than hoped.

yeah I saw that one too, #10 not top 5 is it?

You literally said you couldn't find one that had them in the top 10, then a minute later said you saw the one that had them in the top 10 when I posted one to prove that wrong. So which is it? You were wrong? Or you're a liar? Why not both?

And it took me 1 minute longer to find Wheeler's ranking that has them 5th.

I couldn't see the Athletic one because I don't have an athletic subscription my bad :S

Every list I saw on my google search had them in the 10-15 range not in the top 5 and I think that's a more realistic ranking, I don't think they have a top 5 or top 10 prospect pool (without Bedard) personally

I mean is there any doubt they aren't a top 5 prospect pool now? That's not even including Tampa's 1st we have plus the bunch of 2nds we have this year...and multiple 1st rounders next year too...regardless, Bedard has a lot of young talent to work with next few years..

Not sure what me being a pens fan has to do with literally anything about what the Hawks failed to do when it came to sexual assault. Yes their scum ass franchise does not deserve this pick after covering up assault for 11 years. From top to bottom.
Read the post above yours.

The league couldn't do shit. Deal with it instead of complaining about it in a thread dedicated to a player who has zero to do with it.

Chicago is going to be under immense pressure to put a competitive team together quickly now that Bedard is theirs. They've already sold hundreds of season seat packages and these fans aren't buying tickets to watch them lose with Bedard. Could be a very rocky road ahead and they accelerate their rebuild by years.

People pissing and moaning about the sexual assault issue must not remember conveniently that the front office was flushed of the people responsible for that ( who are not back in the league and in my opinion should not be back in those capacities). Controls in place, training, etc. and many many millions paid out. As someone who has been through similar when I was a child, I would not ‘want the worst’ for that person’s family (or fans) just because. Childish and arm chair sour grapes.

If you watch KDs interview after the lottery, he said this doesn’t change their plan much like bringing in FAs. Not jumping the gun. And people saying the Hawks have no talent incoming are not paying attention. We have some excellent prospects in our pool that was last when Stan ran the show compared to now. We also have 2 1st round picks the next 3 years. That is a lot of talent incoming. Earlier in the year there was a non Chicago reporter giving them the 5 ranking for the Athletic. Subscribe and look it up yourself as it looks like you struggle using the Google.

Somewhat odd phrasing given the conversation - but not really surprising given the quality of Blackhawks fans in this thread.
Blackhawks fans in this thread are completely fine.

Didn't read this thread. Have we started the "Matthews for Bedard" trade proposals yet? 😂
Give it one game 4 result

The management and teammates involved should face lawsuits and be held accountable but the franchise itself isn't to blame, it's the people running it that should face the blame. From what I've seen, Hawks fans don't condone anything that happened either. I get people don't like the people involved but unless I missed something, that shouldn't get in the way of the franchise being gifted a great player (I don't think that it plays a role in them giving up picks). If your argument is that they already had Kane and Toews, *shrugs* too bad I guess?

Storied franchise but they have immense work ahead. This roster was a joke…

Aside from Kochinski no elite prospect in the system. Aside from Jones no above avg. player on the roster and his age is not aligned with Bedard‘s.

Mgt got rid of the Hagels, Laffertys and the vets like Kane, Toews will not re-up… in some ways it worked out as they scored the jackpot in the lottery.

However, I am not sure if Bedard is too happy with that because he has literally no talent to work with and guys like Bedard are not patient, that is why they are great. Would be awesome if he pulled a Lindros…

I am very curious what the front office will do now. I mean there is no talent to play with up front or you imagine him and Kurashev on the first line?
