I see a Devils fan has made a Parise comparo - any other stylistic comparisons?

With a keen eye, soft hands and creative mindset, Keller often finds himself orchestrating scoring chances for the NTDP. Standing in at 5-foot-10 and 168 pounds, Keller tries to model his game after Patrick Kane — especially in regards to how the Blackhawks star overcomes his small stature by dictating the pace on offense.

6. Clayton Keller, centre, United States National Team Development Program (USHL) – Unlike most forwards in this draft class, Keller is undersized at 5-foot-9, 165 pounds. His impeccable skill, speed and razor-sharp instincts make up for his lack of size, though. It’s evident in how the Boston University commit tallied 14 markers and 37 points in 32 games on the USNTDP as a freshman.

Scout’s take: “An offensive catalyst with USA’s national program, Keller is a world-class puck handler who blends his puck-on-a-string dangles with elite vision to confidently dissect opposing defences. His passing abilities are in a class of their own and he needs very little time and space to execute creative, highly difficult pass attempts. He mixes in deceptive fakes, stick misdirection and paralyzing agility to keep opposing teams guessing. In a similar mold as a Patrick Kane or Mitch Marner, Keller’s the type of player that teams run their offenses through due to their creativity and confidence under pressure. He’s not a one-trick pony either because his shooting abilities have dynamic elements as well.”

Keller is much more of a puck carrier. He dictates the play a bit more but doesn't seem to have the same opportunistic instincts Parise had.

The Barzal comparisons are decent, though I like Barzal's vision a bit more, and Keller has better dangles. A harder working, less powerful Drouin might be a good comparison.

Love Keller and would be pretty happy if the Canucks got him. Boeser, McCann, Virtanen, Horvat and Baertschi can all rip the puck. Keller would be a nice catalyst for them.

Can we expect a growth spurt from Keller or is he what he is now? He could be a steal in the 10-15 range.

With Clayton it all comes down to a simple question. Is he fast and skilled enough to make up for his size? I think he is. This kid looks like a high risk high reward type prospect.

It was a mistake (was edited out).

Back on topic...

For those who have watched Keller...any comparisons? (style, skating, speed, skills, etc).

P. Kane?
Parise?
Gaudreau?
Marner?

Cheers

Watched him 5 or 6 times his year. I like the Gaudreau comparison.
Skates a bit like JG, short but quick strides and so quick changes of directions. Has the same kind of skills. Their playmaking skills are also very similar.

Does he look like he'll stay a center or is it likely he gets moved to wing?

Thanks/cheers for the info:nod:

In another draft year (average draft year)...Keller would probably be a guarantee for the top 5-6...based on what I'm reading.

Really sounds like Keller has 1st line star potential (or star 2nd line center).

Cheers

This year isn't that special, 2015 and 2013 were clearly better. I can't think of a recenr draft outside of possibly 2012 or 2011 where he is a top 6 lock.
