I'd love for this kid to get full time on the 3rd line next year. Great player

Yep. Leipsic, Leivo and Nylander are all ready for full time 2nd-3rd line duty next season. Brown could make a case for himself with a strong playoffs and training camp as well.

We're slowly starting to see the future...now.

Before Josh Leivo (22 years old) went down with an injury, he had a 2 game scoring streak going and appeared to be getting more confident with each game played. And now Brendan Leipsic (21 years old) scored and played decently in his first NHL game.

Now I can't wait to see what some of our other AHL prospects can do. I guess it's only a matter of time before we see players like William Nylander, Connor Brown, Nikita Soshnikov, Kasperi Kapanen, Rinat Valiev, Viktor Loov, and Frederik Gauthier make their NHL debut.

Don't forget Marner. No way he's going back to junior so he'll be NHL for him. Leipsic, Leivo, Nylander, Marner and Matthews/Laine should all make the team next year.

Selanne's wife met Leipsic's mom in a local Winnipeg gym years ago. Their families became close friends and have been since.

Interesting ! Having a mentor like selanne should go a long way for leipsic

Thanks !

So Leipsic is absolutely destroying the AHL at the moment. Another 3pt night tonight. It's starting to look like he's outgrown that league.

We have so many good rookies, hard to play all of them though. Some of these guys will be traded, I think he's likely traded for a D prospect.

He will get a shot with the Leafs way before he gets traded. He's a homegrown prospect and after years of developing him, he is ready for the NHL... they won't just ship him off.

I think a 4th line of Martin - Hyman - Leipsic would be awesome.

Haven't been watching the Marlies much to start the season, but caught some of tonight's game. Leipsic looked like he was just toying with Providence on some shifts.

6 games.

Don't see where he fits in with the Leafs at the moment. Hoping they can package a few of their NHL ready or prospect wingers for an upgrade on the back end.

He's not a homegrown prospect. Was Predators property just as long as he's been Leaf property.

he could potentially become a stud. WAS extremely skilled and a BIG TIME pain in the butt on the ice in junior. Unsure if he still plays that gritty style or not in pro's, but he definitely has it in him if he hasn't yet

It would be amazing if he developed into a Bradford Marchand type player. Obviously odds are against that. But one can dream.

Named the AHL forward of the month for October. Finished with 13 points in 8 games (3 goals, 10 assists).

Antoine Bibeau also named goalie of the month.

I dont know what it is about Leipsic, but I jist don't pay attention to him. I know the type of player he is and I know how well he is doing, but I still find it hard to be interested in him.

Not sure why beca use I know our other prospects and am interested in them even though Leipsic seems to be doing better than other leaf prospects

He's the Winterhawk forward that I was most impressed with. He just had a nice package of skills that should put him in the NHL in some capacity. Glad he's doing well in the pros.

You ought to be interested lol. He could definitely be a gallagher type player for us. Him and Kapanen are next in line for taking roster spots from our under-performing "veterans".
