He is one of the most effective WHL players I have seen in a while. Puts up a ton of points, hits a lot, causes havoc every game which results in power plays for his team, gets under every opponents skin, gets under opposing teams fans skin.. just an all around pain in the a#*... but a great player. Nashville drafted a dandy.... Hopefully he can take that play into AHL... He should be talked about way way more on HFBOARDS... Only issue is his size. Has his listed at 5'10 but that is an exaggeration. I would say 5'8-5'9 at the most

This is a player that we need so badly. Thanks for the insight, it's hard catching junior games in Nashville unless it's on NHL Network. Ive been excited to see this kid for 3 years hopefully he can tear it up in Milwaukee

Any comparison to be made with Brendan Gallagher ?

hmmmm not really... Gallagher drives to the net and is hard to play against and works his butt off... Leipsic does same thing but is waaaaaay more dirty, has gotten suspensions, a mouthy little s#@&... but will put up 100 points and make teams look silly. I honestly love the guy and have been watching him multiple times a year for past 3-4 years or so... Ive been to many games where fans are screaming and yelling at him and wanna kill the guy and opponents take multiple penalties on him and he creates a lot of PP's for his Winterhawks. At the end of the game he will have 2 goals, 3 assists, 14 mins in penalties. He needs to be talked about way more

But thinking about it, if there comes a line one day thats likely to be the third line,

Leipsic-Waston-Sissons will be a great gritty line.

I'm a big fan of Leipsic and think he can carve out a career in the NHL. He's definitely not 5'10 as others have said, probably 5'8 ish but he's got a great skillset. Such a quick and shifty player with great hands. I can see him putting up some solid numbers in the AHL next year and maybe getting a look with Nashville the year after.

What's the upside with Leipsic? Obviously he doesn't have the ideal size but it seems like with his skillset he'll be just fine. I saw someone say he's a Marchand type with more upside..if we could get that out of him I would be absolutely stoked.

I didn't realize his numbers in Portland were so gaudy.

Skill level and pain in the a@# level is off the charts. Will kill teams on the scoreboard and also with frustrating opponents. Opposing teams hate him, opposing fans despise him and his teammates LOVE that hes on their team. If he can translate his game from junior into professional ranks, then the Preds have an absolute gem. I cannot wait to see how his rookie season in the AHL plays out next year

HF's Anti-Leafs prospect bias - Leipsic

In the morning, he was a 7.5D, now that he's been traded to the Leafs, he is a 7.0 C.

:biglaugh:

Come on HF..

Who cares? It means nothing in the grande scheme of things anyway.

I agree it means absolutely nothing in terms of his development but one has to wonder... why was his rating changed mere hours after he was traded to the Leafs? I don't recall any other prospects ratings changing like that. There wasn't even any update other than going from 7.5 to 7.0 lol

Im pretty sure every team has their own writer do the ratings. It is possible that its a different person with a different opinion. Really that upset?

Tons of prospects are underrated, im sure each team can name one that is ranked low by hf standards, I don't see the big deal. I think switching him is kinda fair, from a D to a C anyway I think he will get a longer look with the leafs next season (not saying he will stick) just by them rebuilding. If he does make the team it will likely be a bottom 6 role so he might adopt a third line grinder/two way forward role maybe why he was switched from a 7.5 to 7.0. To be clear I am not a leafs fan/hater or trying to defend his new ranking just throwing out an idea. Personally I see it as a bit strange.

Lame that it changed but hf rankings are silly.

Be happy you got a scrappy little cuss with soft hands. Possible Marchand for you guys.
