22 points in 8 games so far, has been pretty lights out to start the season. Excited to see the role he plays in the WJC this year

Scored a hat trick tonight and has an assist. Flat out too good for this level. He has 16 goals, 38 points in 16 games. In my opinion, the best player in the WHL.

He's going to be co-captain for team WHL in the super series. And I could see him having a letter at the U20's. Only question for him is how he'll manage the jump to pros. If it's seamless, the Bolts have another gem on their hands.

Ssht don't let the secret out!! We are on our best way for another "where did this guy
came out of nowhere from" thread in two years on the main board.

The best kept secrets in Tampa have so far been the most succesfull once for us. Wether it's Johnson or Palat or more "average prospects/players" like Killorn and Paquette, nobody knows them till they are proven players. And while the last two are not irreplacable, they have a lot to do with the success or the lack of it.

3 Pts tonight vs Russia with a bunch of time left. He's going to keep putting up multiple point nights against anyone of this age.

Had him in the 2nd round in 2014.

Amazing how scouts continually screw up, over and over again, with small talented players.

Like Sven Bartschi, Jordan Schroeder, the Bourque brothers, Cory Conacher, Martin St Pierre, Corey Locke, Bill Sweatt (who had crazy hype here), Toni Rajala (who had even more) and Rob Schremp (who had the most of all).

For every example of a small guy who fell through the cracks there are two examples of small guys picked high who busted.

How can undrafted players be busts?

Leaving aside Baertschi, who I think cannot be considered a bust at this point, who out of the other guys were small guys that were picked high besides Schroeder?

Just like there are two examples of "big" guys that busted for every case you mentioned.

It's not that small skilled players are a guarantee. It's not. It's that you need to draft for upside. If the choice is between a kid who might be a 4th liner and somehow who has enough skill to have top-six upside, the choice is obvious for me.

It's just mind-boggling how many times people are like "so-and-so small player comes out of nowhere to make a big impact". They didn't come out of nowhere. They dominated every level they played at previously. It's just everyone else was too busy drafting Tyler Biggs types to care.
