This is where I, and probably Zenon, will disagree with you and thats fine. Size does matter to us. It isn't the only factor but it is a factor. The reason I bolded the above is because size is a factor with these players. It can't be used to call immediate busts but also cannot be ignored. I haven't seen Bjorkstrand or Baillie play this season but last season, Bjorkstrand was push off the puck too often for my liking.

But like I said, while size matters, it isn't the only thing. There is a reason why I loved Petan but not so much Bjorkstrand. In fact, Petan was smaller. I just found that he compensated his lack of size with other skills to balance out his game.

Conclude: agreed that lack of size does not mean automatic bust. But it is an obstacle that needs to be overcome nonetheless.

Is Point comparable to Petan?

This is contradictory. Does it matter or not? If you really are attending to the 'other skills' in a player's game, you will not be able to discern the difference in a few inches in physical stature.

Put a guy like Tkachev in play and he has to be the exception to the rule. There are only a few players who make it under 5'9'' so there is an art to figuring out who that will be. But discussing height on a guy that is 5'9 and up will lead to teams losing out on good pro players.

Most points in a season since Troy Brouwer won the scoring race in '06. Brouwer played on a championship calibre team, Point played on an embarrassing bottom feeder. Well done Brayden, well done.

To take it a step further highest scoring 1996 born player in CHL over two seasons with

148pts done on a team that finished 10th both years and had very little scoring in each of those

seasons. Not sure how draft will go but he will be a steal with ant pick after 30.

I don't know whether I'm catching him on bad days or what but I just don't see 1st round or even high 2nd with him. His hockey IQ is good and he plays all zones, but for his small frame size I find him actually to play with pretty low intensity. I see the bursts of speed when he uses it, but find him standing around a lot gliding. Saw him get stick checked with ease several times and just generally not having the elusiveness or jump you'd expect of someone his size and pedigree. What I did like about him is that he finds himself with scoring opportunities "out of nowhere" so he reads the play pretty good at least. His numbers obviously look good, so I'm really wondering whether I caught him on bad days but right now outside of numbers I don't really get the love for him.

Can any Moose Jaw or WHL fans comment on his play so far this year?

Have only caught him once but he was great. Scored a pair of fantastic goals and generally carried the play when he was on the ice. He's taken some nice steps forward in his game and should be earning some interest for Team Canada at the World Juniors.

In 58 GP he has 36G 47A and 83 points with Moose Jaw this season. Anybody been watching/following his play this season?

Yes, he's fantastic. Definitely looks like he's too good for this league on most nights.

Like with many juniors, he's going to still need to work on getting bigger, stronger and faster over the next couple of years before I see him making any type of NHL impact.

Can't wait to see this guy in Syracuse. Does he still have to play another year in the WHL, or is it like DeAngelo/Mantha where he can play in the minors next season?

He'll be in the WHL next year, unless he makes the Lightning.

If he ever makes Tampa they can change their name to the lollipop guild.

The ignorance runs strong in this one. Half the game day roster for TBL is 6'2" or taller. The roster also has the most players with a height of 6'5" or taller in the league. Only two players 5'10" and under on the roster...and one of them (Johnson) is #13 in the league in scoring.

Brayden Point made some noise at TB's camp and is now putting up huge numbers in the dub. 2+2 tonight gives him 8+8 in 6 games.

If Fabbri stays with the Blues will he be Canada's top C at the WJC? Maybe Strome?

cmon no way there's 78 players better than him on draft day

guy was a stud in his draft -1 too

Tampa Bay just has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to picking up gems in the later rounds.

Yeah, he had no business being available after the early parts of the 2nd round. Once again, size concerns cause a player to fall.

One of the best players in the dub. Had him in the 1st round, teams still can't look past size though.

There is not. However, there's a lot of dumb GM/scouting staff like the Devils one that passed on him to take an overage that is damned to be a fourth line at best (Connor Chatham)
