Honestly, nothing... it was all due to his size. I believe he was 5'9 160 in his draft year.

He was unreal when he broke into the WHL as a 15 year old in the playoffs and then just kept getting better and better. You'd think by now, NHL teams wouldnt care as much about size since we are seeing more and more real small guys excel.... but this was yet another example of size causing an unreal player to drop

It's weird though as a number of smaller guys were selected much higher than him. Guys like Fiala, Honka, Fabbri, Hawryluk come to mind. Hawryluk in particular as he's the same size as Point but had way worse production in his draft year. Seems odd that he'd get selected ahead of Point, but I didn't follow either of those two guys too closely in 2014.

I remember during the draft, a number of draft-knowledgeable TB fans were hoping we'd get point, and believed he'd be the steal of the draft. He's done nothing but impress so far.

Was at the game tonight, he will be in the NHL soon if not now. Very smart, good hands, skates well and protects the puck efficiently for his size.

Point looks to be a lock on the squad to start the season ... fits in nicely on the Bolts second line while Kucherov negotiates his contract. Killorn / Johnson / Point should be excellent - pick him up in your fantasy league if Point is still available. Will rack up the points ... up until Kucherov comes back at least.

Where does he fit in the lineup if Kucherov is signed by Thur?

He goes to third line. Filp / Namestnikov / Point would be my best guess. When Callahan returns in November ... Point will go back to being the #1C in Syracuse. Up until then I believe Point has a top 9 spot secured.

Sounds like a reasonable plan. Which could of course get complication if Point takes off and makes it hard to be sent down. But that would be a nice problem to have, no doubt.

Played a little over 16 minutes in his first NHL game btw. Looked very good imo - certainly didn't look out of place on a stacked Lightning squad.

As long as he gets at least 13-14 minutes a night, I think they should find a way to keep him up. Better than 20 minutes a night in the A. With Callahan coming back though, they'd pretty much need someone else out with an injury to guarantee him that time.

He looks good for sure.

Crazy how his game seemed to translate instantly to the NHL. He's still 1st on every puck near him and you can see his great skill level.

Should be one for the future

Looks like he's getting lots of playing time - about 15 mins - so Cooper must feel pretty comfortable with him. 3 points in 6 games isn't bad and he's got 14 SOG, which is pretty decent. I'm curious what the Bolts do with him once Callahan returns. Does he stay?

I honestly dont know why this kid slipped so far in the draft. Anyone that watched moosejaw play when he was there new that he could play despite his lack of size. Konecny is just as small and he was a 1st rounder. They have a lot of similarities imo

Probably because he was so small but didn't he also smoke cigarettes as well? I'm guessing he doesn't anymore but that could be a red flag to teams.

What are you talking about the kid
Is about as straight laced as you will
Find were do you guys come up with this stuff
Brayden dropped in the draft lots of small guys do
He's proving that is a mistake do make up
Stories about people that are not true
I know him very well I'm sure you dont

Alright well don't get your laces in a knot, I merely asked a question and never stated that I knew him.

I think it was earlier in this thread that I saw someone say it? The validity of its truth obviously wasn't certain so I asked. Good to hear that was totally untrue then.

Damn you Tampa and your 300 billion good young wingers.

Would trade 1 for a good #2 or 3D

But back on topic...Point has been great to watch...at least for me. Anytime he's on the ice, he's right there with the puck...great instincts. he's got his shades on...cause his future is looking bright.

I thought this was a poem or lyrics to a song at first and I read it as such
