I hope he joins Kiekko-Espoo who did got promoted today on the Finnish 2nd level.

Could play with men in a huge role.

4 realistic scenarios to Lambert for season 2020-2021
1 Other SM liiga team with better coach
( Pelicans Tommi Niemelä and Kookoo Jussi Ahokas both former junior coaches)

2 CHL

3 SHL
( Frölunda's junior program is Europe's best Frölunda is produced a lot NHL draft picks )

4 KHL Jokerit
( If the money is behind of this and Kurri has said he pays more than HIFK ).

I'd assume OHL, cause what's the point with moving to a junior league if it isn't the best one of the lot? Doubt he's moving to anywhere in Europe, cause the training facilities wouldn't differ that much from Helsinki, and highly unlikely anyone is gonna pay a ton of more money for a kid than IFK already.

Only team in Finland who can pay more than any SM liiga team is KHL Jokerit.
SM liiga teams can't match KHL / NLA / SHL contract offers
because SM liiga teams don't have money to compete with those teams.

I'm sure of that CHL is a option for Lambert but why?
Is Lambert changed his mind and decided represent Team Canada in IIHF tournaments.
That's the question what nobody except Lambert can't know.

The plot thickens.

To my understanding if Lambert had played for Finland this Spring in the U18 games, he would have been bound to play for Finland in the future as well. Lambert would have certainly been on that team. Now that the U18 got cancelled, maybe Lambert and his crew had a change of heart and they want him to represent Canada? If he goes to play in junior leagues in Canada for two years, he can play for Canada in the future.

Honestly, I don't see that this could be anything else but Lambert going to Canada. I give a slight chance that he goes somewhere else in Europe like SHL or Switzerland, and I would be really surprised if he went somewhere else in Finland.

He's 16.

Where does everyone think he'll play next year?

Can't believe HIFK actually was stupid enough to let this happen, still somehow i had a feeling they would f*** this up, i hope it's not his dad making his decisions for him though. I don't mind him going to play to CHL or WHL just aslong as he plays for Team Finland.

Really unfortunate he wasn’t able to play for Finland at the U18s and solidify his eligibility. Hopefully the rumor that he’s switching teams in Liiga for more ice time is true.

Smart decision to keep all options open. Nobody knows if/where/how hockey will be played this fall.

Who has the first pick of the CHL import draft? You have to think he goes first.
North Bay.

My guess is he’ll have a deal with London or Halifax or whatever and tell all other teams he’s staying in Finland. If he slips to that team, he’ll report. If someone else snags him up, like it happened with Dominik Bokk, for example, he’ll stay in Europe. He’ll have plenty of options there.

I hope this isn’t the case because that would be a huge middle finger to Finland after being a major part of his development. I guess it’s good for him to keep all options open but he is probably better off developing in a men’s league, even if it’s for a weaker Liiga team.

My guess if he moves inside Liiga the most potential options are going to be Pelicans, Ilves and TPS. Not in any particular order.

Doesn't Swift Current have the worst record in the CHL though?

Yeah I could see that happening.

16-vuotias superlupaus Brad Lambert jätti HIFK:n – kertoo nyt kovan ratkaisunsa taustat

"Do you see yourself playing for the Finnish or Canadian national team"

-Finnish

End of that discussion
Yeah, I don't really think this answer is all that valuable right now, people change their minds all the time and players get caught telling lies all the time, of course in the current climate the right choice is to say that he will rep Finland but we will never know what an 18-year-old Brad thinks of the situation after a couple years in Canada. All this press release does right now is that bitter people get a way to hate him in the future

Where's Kookoo? Jussi Ahokas is already much better junior coach than Jarno Pikkarainen.
Ahokas is double world champion coach ( U18 and U20 WJC gold ) in Finnish hockey.

The good news is that he didn't hem and haw, but I'd say this discussion still won't end until he dresses for Finland in either the U18 or the U20 WJC.

Although, without special permissions the earliest he can represent Canada is the 2023 U20 WJC.

Yes but still, i think that the odds of a Finn born and raised in Finland to play for a nother nationaloty is slim compared to for example a Swede with dual citizenship.

I was looking at it more from the facilities and role perspective. Can't see him joining a low profile club like KooKoo. Then again, Kouvola is quite close to Lahti so who knows...

The order this year is OHL-QMJHL-WHL, so:

1. worst O team
2. Worst Q team
3. Worst W team
4. Second-worst O team
5. Second-worst Q team
6. Second-worst W team
.
.
.

Last year was WHL-OHL-QMJHL. Alternates every year.

Ah, thanks. I thought it was overall point percentage.
