weooooo

So you put your 1st overall pick who is better than 3 of your top 6 players on your example there and put him on the 3rd line...and on the wing. Congrats you just showed everyone how NOT to use Matthews.

I think this humourous reference to Therrien's line blender has gone over some people's heads.

I say Eichel is still the clear #2, while Matthews would be the clear #3.

Id say their ceilings are (if scoring stays how it is right now):

Eichel 50g-50a-100p
Matthews 40g-50a-90p

Just for fun, I'd say Mcdavid is 40g-70a-110p.

As a Canucks fan, I'd be ecstatic with Matthews this draft, someone let Daly know the Canucks still havn't had a first overall.:handclap:

Check your history man, the Canucks had the 1st OA pick in 1999, and traded down.

Whether he was joking or not. Having Matthews on your third line wing is pretty stupid

Yes, I assume that was the joke. Therrien is notorious for putting talented young players in the bottom six and playing people out of position.

Seriously? He instantly becomes MTL's first line centre, or maybe first year 2nd line centre. Way ahead of Desharnais. WAY AHEAD.

For sure

Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Andrighetto
UFA - Matthews - Gallagher
Eller - Plekanec - McCarron
Byron - Mitchell - Flynn
Matteau/DeLaRose/Carr

Can someone link me to a highlight package/video that shows me what is game is all about?

I know his game kinda well. From viewings in the World Jrs but I just realized I don't know nearly as much about his game as Laine and Pool Party.

From what I've heard and seen:

Is Toews with a better shot and better skating a good comparison?

Vancouver talk radio hosts basically said as a fact that if Matthews and Eichel were in the same draft, that Matthews would be picked over Eichel.

Any truth to this? Is Matthews ceiling higher that Eichel?

Hmmm someone on 1040 says his opinion is fact like a blabbering moron?

Let me guess: Dave Pratt?

He's got great hands and instincts in tight, but I feel like he uses then with even more success when patrolling the offensive zone and making plays. It will be interesting to see how he is able to translate his goal scoring to the NHL level. He's got the size and hands, but there is so much less time and space in front of NHL nets. Luckily he's a bona fide sniper as well.

He's got the ideal mix for a prototypical franchise centerman - a great combination of size, hands in tight, perimeter playmaking, and a wicked mid range wrister. He's also excellent at stripping pucks and seems to care about his own end.

As he improves his footspeed, he's gonna be a hell of a player. He seems to be the kind of guy who gets really really dangerous as his confidence grows. So that should be fun to watch.

Well not in writing, but the Canucks drafted Daniel Sedin 1st overall and everyone knows it. The only reason they traded down was to do Atlanta a PR favour and keep them from picking either of the Sedins.
