Had a fantastic game overall, then scored the GW goal, which was a beauty to send Canada to the Gold medal game. Cannot get better than that. This all with Lucic as your common line-mate, lol.

Don’t see how the Ducks don’t pick him at 2ndOA.

No brainer they take him #2.

Speed, skill, and size are all high end. No way they pass up on him, he has a physical edge to his game as well.

Easily goes #1 last year and if not for Bedard he would be going #1 this year.

how has he looked compared to Carlsson this tournament

Was Kakko a top line player for the entire tournament? Didn’t he start further down the lineup with limited ice time? I can’t remember.
Slafkovsky I know wasn’t a top line player for the first several games in the tournament and played alongside Regenda and Roman, 2 guys who wouldn’t come close to making Sweden, Canada, USA or any other top nations roster. Still ended up involved in almost 50% of Slovak goals.

Obviously role has an impact but what about other factors? Powerplay especially, which fantilli has been on flanked by all NHL players

Slafkovsky had 8 points against Italy/France/Kazakhstan/Denmark, one goal against the Swiss and was held pointless by Canada/Finland/Germany. Still an impressive showing by a kid in this tournament but he wasn't actually producing against NHL talent any more than other kids at this event in recent years.

Lucic is better than anyone on Latvia’s roster though.

I would not be too surprised if he becomes a better NHL player then Bedard. His game looks like it will transfer better and he has the size and reach that might hold Bedard back, we will see.

He doesn't have near the grit or pest qualities
Watched the world's up to now - I don't see anything special-
He was an absolute circus in the USHL. Extremely Tkachuk like. Especially in rivalry games against the US18s.
I don't see anything that special on Carlson either - not in This tournament but he's looked better than Fants
You’re watching a men’s tournament. These are teenagers.

Although Slafkovsky was playing on a line with 2 Slovak league players essentially ECHL players, on a team with 1 NHL forward and no other top forwards from top Swedish, Finnish or Russian leagues. The talent Slafkovsky was surrounded with was arguably the worst from a top U18 prospect in the last 20 years at the WC.

Does anyone have the icetime for today? It felt like he was playing quite a lot in the 2nd and 3rd period. Lots of good things happened when he was on the ice. Also hit the post today. Very good showing imo

He needs to go back to college for another year.
I'm I'm Anaheim I sign him and play him to get his lumps in the NHL. He won the Hobey Baker last year, and seems to be ready for the physicality of the NHL, hard to tell him you want him to go back to the NCAA. He won't be as good during his ELC, but you aren't trying to win the cup in the next few years, and if you start his ELC immediately you might get a discount on his next contract.

Ultimately, it is Fantilli's decision whether to stay at Michigan or not. I will say that players who stay for two years of college often are able to step right into the NHL. Players who stay for only one year seem to need time in the AHL. Depends on where he wants to spend next season really.
