I find it curious that he only had 2 goals in 30 games in juniors last year, especially since he scored 17 the year before. His PPG actually dropped from 0.76 to 0.70 as well. Did he really stagnate as a prospect or what happened?
Something has definitely happened with Aatu. I’m kind of suspecting that the Kärpät head coach Mikko Manner is at least part of the problem, as it really seems that all Kärpät young talents are stagnating with their skill development since they have been playing under his coaching.Don't know but Aatu hasn't scored a single point in SM-Liiga since turning 17. And has played only 8 games. Struggled at U20. And he turns 18 in 2 weeks.
As a comparison, Anton Lundell played 41 LIIGA games as 17-year old and scored 12+11=23 points. Both are centers, born at same time of the year (October-November). Good comparables.
And Kaapo Kakko was able to do the same as Lundell. This is what Top10 talents do, they succeed in Liiga at early age.
Räty has done nothing for a year. He did look promising as 16-year old. Don't know what has happened then.
I don't see him close to top 10 at this point, with these results. Plenty of time to change that.
It's crazy that TSN released a hype piece on him before the season.
He's been totally neutered in a 4th line role that gives him 9-10 minutes a game, although last game he had 12. No power play time.
He should be sent down for the time being.
He was great at the u20. Raty line was the most consistent through out the tournament.Exact opposite? He did struggle at U20.
Exact opposite? He did struggle at U20.
I watched the whole tournament and Aatu was invicible almost the whole time, even with this brother on his line doing so well.He was great at the u20. Raty line was the most consistent through out the tournament.
Im guessing that is the biggest reason he's so highly rated in the rankings.
Heavily disagree. In the sense that almost all D-1 players struggle in WJC? Sure?
Still he performed similarly to Lundell, Barkov, Granlund and McDavid.
The comparison to sean Day was a joke.Is it really a very small sample size? He was not even close to first overall caliber last season either, 2 goals in 30 games in the junior level is not stellar.
YOOOOO It's ookhaabIn the sense that almost all D-1 players struggle in WJC? Sure?
Still he performed similarly to Lundell, Barkov, Granlund and McDavid.
What are you talking about? I just can’t imagine why he hasn’t produced in juniors last yeqr. But Raty Raty Ranta line was amazong at WJC and everybody at here was wanting more icetime to that line.Exact opposite? He did struggle at U20.
4th line again today. Good luck.
That's sort of true, but you seriously cannot bet that Sailio and Karvinen will continue scoring and pushing the play like 2nd liners as they're career 4th liners.Well Karvinen and Sailio have been our best players on 5vs5, sadly. Rather have Aatu there than with Jokinen and Mustonen.
I don't remember it, probably because it never happened.Remember when everyone ridiculed me for saying he wasn't the best player in this draft class?
Yes, it did. I've been saying that Raty has been overhyped for a while now.I don't remember it, probably because it never happened.
No, Raty is just overhyped.
Yeah, he's far from the clear 1st overall pick that people are making him out to be. His numbers are a fair bit worse than Lundell at the same age.
Lundell: 1.5 ppg in SM-Liiga, 0.5 ppg in Liiga
Raty: 0.7 ppg in SM-Liiga, 0.3 ppg in Liiga
Lundell has pretty much double the production and was never considered to be in the race for 1st overall.
