Don't know but Aatu hasn't scored a single point in SM-Liiga since turning 17. And has played only 8 games. Struggled at U20. And he turns 18 in 2 weeks.
As a comparison, Anton Lundell played 41 LIIGA games as 17-year old and scored 12+11=23 points. Both are centers, born at same time of the year (October-November). Good comparables.
And Kaapo Kakko was able to do the same as Lundell. This is what Top10 talents do, they succeed in Liiga at early age.
Räty has done nothing for a year. He did look promising as 16-year old. Don't know what has happened then.
Something has definitely happened with Aatu. I’m kind of suspecting that the Kärpät head coach Mikko Manner is at least part of the problem, as it really seems that all Kärpät young talents are stagnating with their skill development since they have been playing under his coaching.
Manner’s team plays quite robotic hockey, and honestly I’m afraid that he chains the skilled talents too early to the robotic defensive hockey, where everything is done extremely safely. This kind of approach kills courage and creativity especially for young players.
It seems to me that Manner is a better coach for more experienced players that have already developed their skills in a versatile way. I don't unfortunately see him as a very good developing coach for young talents.

I don't see him close to top 10 at this point, with these results. Plenty of time to change that.
It's crazy that TSN released a hype piece on him before the season.
He's been totally neutered in a 4th line role that gives him 9-10 minutes a game, although last game he had 12. No power play time.
He should be sent down for the time being.

A strange draft year like I've ever seen. It's very fuzzy. No player seems to have the No.1 pick status. No U18 Tournament last year, no Hlinka Gretzky this summer, the 2020/21 season which does not start at the same time for everyone. Raty has benefited from the fact that he made his pro debut last year and is the only eligible player to have played a U20 Tournament.

I think there are very few that believe he's top 5 at this point, and likely not top 10 either. But he still has a whole season to show that he belongs in either of those two ranges, and I think he certainly has the skillset to project as some type of first rounder. I can't see him dropping much past the end of the first round. Like all players who are in the first round range, how you play will decide where you go in the first or if you have a really bad season, early second. I don't see his range extending much beyond where we saw players like Barron and Lapierre picked in 2020.

Remember when everyone ridiculed me for saying he wasn't the best player in this draft class?
There's certainly still a possibility he works his way back into the top-10 though. A good WJC would do wonders for his stock.

He was great at the u20. Raty line was the most consistent through out the tournament.
Im guessing that is the biggest reason he's so highly rated in the rankings.
In the sense that almost all D-1 players struggle in WJC? Sure?
Still he performed similarly to Lundell, Barkov, Granlund and McDavid.
I watched the whole tournament and Aatu was invicible almost the whole time, even with this brother on his line doing so well.

What are you talking about? I just can’t imagine why he hasn’t produced in juniors last yeqr. But Raty Raty Ranta line was amazong at WJC and everybody at here was wanting more icetime to that line.

Well Karvinen and Sailio have been our best players on 5vs5, sadly. Rather have Aatu there than with Jokinen and Mustonen.

That's sort of true, but you seriously cannot bet that Sailio and Karvinen will continue scoring and pushing the play like 2nd liners as they're career 4th liners.
Still, at least he gets to play.

Aatu scores his 1st goal of this year and 4 minutes later his 2nd.
This game has obviously been a lot better from him even outside the goals. He's been pushing the play a lot with Sailio and Karvinen.
