Extremely excessive. 6 games for a first time offender. Playoff games equal 2 reg season are 1

Doesn’t matter though. Mcauley will handle the rest with ease. Leafs now 0-8 in playoff games with that pos reffing. No conflict of interest there to worry about right. League is embarrassing

I'd say you must be new here, but I know you're not new here.

We all know that in order for the Leafs to have a chance at the cup (or really any Canadian team) will have to beat both the the other team and the referees.

And a goalie that can do headstands.

It's not even a big deal anymore.

The match penalty would have been fine as it seems like a play where Bunting expected body contact but the other player didn't oblige.

The problem with 3 games is that it sets a percent that of course won't be followed.

I'm loving this victim complex. The Leafs lost because the Lightning beat them and Bunting took a really stupid penalty. They didn't lose because there's a league-wide conspiracy to keep Toronto out of the second round.

For a nation that says "Hockey is Canada's game", you lot sure resort extremely quickly to the lamest possible excuse. I'd expect casuals to blame the refs for their teams failures but I thought Canadians knew hockey.

I think you may not know what the definiton of a conspiracy is

Three games? This league is a fricking joke. f*** man. Hockey used to be fun, and cool. You gen Z children ruined this game.

The problem isn’t the suspension, the problem is the lack of consistency. This exact same type of hit has resulted in less games in the regular season.

The referees are shit at their job, and don’t seem to be getting any better. The amount of penalties you draw and take being so close to. 1-1 ratio is all but impossible.

When was the last time a player picked the head of an opponent who wasn't eligible to be hit and there was no basis for a "hockey play" defense argument involved?

It might be years until we see an a similar set of factors occur like Bunting's hit on Cernak happen again and we truly evaluate whether a precedent was established.

The head was the primary point of contact and contact with the head was clearly avoidable. His skates left the ice to elevate the hit. The play resulted in an injury. Show me a comparable situation which resulted in less games suspended.

No puck
Charge
Left his feet
Principal point was head
Used his elbow

Should be minimum 2 games but deserves 3 easy. But we know it's the NHL so he will get 5k and a free dinner.
Yes, there was no puck.
Left his feet, have to see it again, he did raise his body up just before the contact but I think the hit actually made him to left his feet.

But I don't see Bunting's intention to hurt him. I see Bunting's intention to be aggressive but I also see Cernak down on his knees and going diagonally to Bunting.

I think this was aggressive play with bad result for Cernak.

The exact same type of hit hasn't resulted in less games. At least in recent years.

The core "problem" is too many fans think two different hits are equivalent when they rarely are.

Suspensions in the regular season are longer then in the playoffs. In the regular season this infraction got three games. Seems pretty clear.

Depends on if you view the same amount of games in the regular season as more. Traditionally playoff suspensions are shorter.

Give me an example of a player with a similar illegal hit to the head in the regular season who only got three games.

I expect any videos you come up with will not be identical factors.

ok one guy is still and throws and elbow with a tiny bit of elevation compared to guys charging in with a flying elbow lets charge the guy whos still and can't even see the guy he hit more? What would you rather get him by someone skating at full speed with an elbow up or someone randomly throwing a bow at you? Which one is actually more dangerous to the player?

You’re right this one is worse, three games in the regular season.

Is repeat offender the only criteria they use? Are they bound to use precedent even if the infractions arent exactly equal?
No and no. I guess that's why DOPS literally doles out suspensions with the spinning wheel. Parros has a nice gig. Sleep in and do nothing. Spin the wheel and there ya go.
