Because I was originally responding to someone who said “how can anyone cheer for bunting? Seriously?”

And I posted that vernal hit and said “the same way people can cheer for verbal, I guess”

No issue with the suspension, but many fans correctly raised concerns about how the league is officiating in general. We want to suspend plays like this. Most fans 100% support that, but it would need to be done league-wide and not just for teams that have the most eyes on them.

I get it, everyone is watching the Leafs games so you have to button it down, but there's no reason to hold the other teams to a lesser standard.

He is one of the highest rated UFAs this summer, but 27 years old two 20 goals seasons is not getting good money, other than a short term prove it type, especially after this. 2 x $5-6 million, but that aint coming from Toronto. He could get better, could not, but with the short runway this is more of a risk than say someone who had ten seasons under there belt a la another 27 year old like MacKinnon.

The reason you don't see it is because in your opinion it is a deflection. I cannot speak to the poster's actual state of mind, but if that person doesn't think they are deflecting anything and thinks that people can like Bunting despite his vicious hit ( he was 3rd place in Calder voting he, scored 20 goals ect) in the same way people see other attributes in Cernak despite his vicious hit.

Hyman, Goodrow, Coleman, Mikheyev, Anderson, Lehkonen, Tanev, Crouse, Iafallo, Moore, Saad, Ferland, Labanc, Laughton all got paid. Freaking Kassian and Kane got paid with their baggage. He's gonna be seen as somewhere in the middle of that group by at least a few teams. Domi and Bertuzzi are the only other 2 similar UFAs to hit the market and Domi is not without issues of his own while Bertuzzi wants Kadri like money. At least 4x3.5, probably much more

On another note, it’s the type of hit that can do tremendous damage to a player, and that’s what the result is, Cernack is done for the series and he’s a top 6 damn.
