So I was at the game last night, obviously was very disturbed by Tinordi's giveaway at the time. Today, I've calmed down, they won in the end...and now that I am perfectly calm and rational, I can see that that play by Tinordi was still one of the worst giveaway's I've ever seen and any competent NHL player would never allow that to happen.
Yeah, don’t structure your mental well being around Tinordi being a competent NHLer - I’m not a professional just a dude looking out

I've seen some people who follow Hartford say that Huska has been better than Kinkaid for the Wolf Pack. Time to call him up and give him a shot.

Let Kinkaid stay as the AHL veteran to stabilize that club and call up Huska.

Idk if we'll hear anything today, the Rangers are probably off today - weekend was supposed to be B2B games so they probably have today as an off day penciled in to the schedule.

I think things just aren't coming easy for Mika right now and he probably needs to maybe just find a way to change the way he's playing a bit. I think it has less to do with "being engaged" or something and just partly just more finding his strengths again. He's shooting 8.9% this season, he's a far better shooter than that, but he also doesnt' seem to be shooting that much lately. Would rather he start finding ways to get more shots on net because his shooting percentage isn't going to stay that low.

Let's just cut to the chase and bring in Hugo Ollas. I'm ready.

Sam: Ovechkin shoots! Ollas, glove save and a beauty!

Joe: Can you believe this kid, Sam?

Sam: Those are "HUGE"s, Joe! HUGE"s!"

huska has been lights out thus far. Just hasn’t played as much as Kinkaid. I loved huska as a prospect but as many here may remember I was super disappointed when he chose UCONN for his ncaa development. Thought it was a big mistake and I think it still was. Not sure he ever took the next step because of it. But he’s playing really well right now

I really dislike Georgiev. This guy should have been traded over a year ago. Right now, he’s just taking up cap space.
I’d rather have kinkaid or Huska.
As far as the game goes, it’s one of those nights where even a bad team plays the rangers like it’s their Stanley cup.
I’m happy we showed Fortitude and Balls to come back and win.
Despite what some think, this is a good hockey team, and they are going to get better. We have some guys not firing on all cylinders yet and they are still finding ways to win.
Kakko looks like someone took a piano off his back, he’s got an extra jump in his step.
LaF had a good chance, but couldn’t convert. Kreider and Trouba are savages this season. Panarin and Fox look to be getting back to where they were so good last season, and our 4th line is a bunch of lunch pail workers.
They are a stabilizing force on the team. It’s really nice to have a 4th line that’s not a liability. Guys you trust to play an honest hard 10-12 min that forecheck, hit, and score once and a while.
With Blais out for the year, I still think we might add a guy like Donskoi or Jarnkrok if Gauthier cools off.
Chytil played solid, Miller played solid, our top 4 D all had good games.
Tinordi is not good.

I was all for trading Georgiev for a long time -

1) When he was still thought of as a decent backup, trading him meant more assets for us to rebuild with, even if just a second or third rounder.
2) Trading him last year could have cleared room for a Lundqvist victory lap tour as Shesterkin's backup (unbeknownst to us, he would have missed the season with the heart surgery, but still.... career Ranger would have been nice, plus no buy out).
3) Setting aside the issue of DeAngelo himself and how many strikes he had accumulated, not sure why Georgiev was any less to blame for that fight and didn't appear to be a good teammate at that junction.
4) Asked for a trade because he was unhappy with being the backup to Shesterkin.
5) For a team that needed cap space he was taking up a lot of cap dollars when Kinkaid was making the minimum.
6) Became apparent very early last year that he was regressing and would never be what the team thought of him - not that it wasn't clear to many of us that he'd never be a legit starter from the beginning.
7) His name isn't pronounced like it looks and I always want to say "Jee-or-jev" not "Gee-OR-gee-ev."

Add it all up and I'll be happy when we've moved on.

Awesome finish to a dominant win that would not have been close if not for Georgiev. I think we've finally reached the end of the line with him, no one has any confidence he will make a save on any given shot, himself included.

GMs usually give the team they broke camp with until Thanksgiving to show them what theyve got, and i think its clear that the main problem areas are backup goalie and 3rd pair defense. With 4 straight important divisional games coming up (BOS isnt in division but it still feels like one), i could see some moves made today. Georgiev & Lundkvist to HFD -> Kinkaid & Jones to NYR

Nemeth should be demoted before Lundkvist.

Tinordi to Hartford, Nemeth to the press box, Jones to NYR. Keep Nils where he is.

Brendan Smith at 50% outplays Nemetha and Tinordi both at 100%. What is it with the Rangers always having trouble with the 5th and 6th Dmen? They got a great top 4 that produce, play and eat a lot of minutes... what is so difficult in finding a no. 5 and 6 at 1-2 million that just do their damn job for 10-15 mins. a game and keep it real? I've reached the stage where I'd accept to see Hajek (I did see all his 5 games in Hartford, really not that good, totally stunk in 2) ...

I'm not sure why Hajek doesn't get a look over Tinordi and Nemeth at this juncture, except, well....

Need moar toffness, of course.

I dunno the only goal that was really terrible was the 4th goal where it seemed like there was no reason for him to be surprised by it. But that's often how it's been with Georgiev...goals against that are kinda like "well OK goalies give that up sometimes" but he gives it up multiple times per games. Seems as if his positioning and anticipation is off but it's been off for a while now

I think there are arguments that the first and third goal are also stopped by Shesterkin. The third especially.

But on the first he also kicked out a fat rebound right to the slot and then was too slow to get over and get a pad on it.

The best part of the game-winning goal was Fox jumping up way before the puck even came lose, like he just knew it was coming. Typically you see the position Zibanejad was in, leave that area and try to help battle out the puck with the D-man pinching in. But, nope, Fox just does it himself.

seems like a ton of traffic and a scrum and that just happens sometimes (on the first)
The third goal was a nice top shelf shot using a defenseman as a screen, but yeah that's kind of one of those "well goalies do get beat by that but he also somehow looked off his mark and too deep in his crease" or something

"He succeeded wrong" is just about as classic as it gets for this place.

He's playing well defensively and has put up 15 points in 18 games. Yea, he's not scoring as much, okay, I'll give you that, and he was over a point per game when playing his best hockey in 19-20 season.

But to say he's "playing bad" or even lazy is just too much. The team is playing well and he's contributing to those wins. And I'm sure the scoring will come.

Is he playing well defensively?

Serious question. He's never been known for that. Are his metrics showing a defensive turnaround?

I mean, there were seconds left, he knew either he moved up and had a chance to make a play if the puck came loose or, or it never came loose and time expired, or Buffalo manages to break it out but would never get down the ice in time to score

yeah, but it's still something you typically see a player in Zibanejad's position doing while the D-man tries to enter that middle of the Ice area.

I just realized Laf played his best hockey in front of his father, Hugo. We need to fly Hugo to NY and get those chants going.

Hypothesis: If the Rangers had scored 5 more even strength goals, and divided those points evenly (1 goal, 2 assists each goal instance = 15 total points to distribute) between Kakko, Lafreniere and Chytil, this team would be in the top 10 in scoring and Lafreniere, Kakko and Chytil would each be pacing for like 0.5 ppg and no one would be worried at all.
