I dont get the Mika hate on the winning goal. He read the play perfectly and was the primary assist on the goal. The vision he showed knowing Lindgren came up behind was amazing.
He didn't do shit perfectly. Fox did. Fox timed it to perfection.

He was sitting there letting the entire unit do all the work. In no mans land, he would have played no part. THAT IS NOT WHAT WE WANT FROM OUR $68M CENTER. He makes it so easy for the other team

Awesome finish to a dominant win that would not have been close if not for Georgiev. I think we've finally reached the end of the line with him, no one has any confidence he will make a save on any given shot, himself included.

GMs usually give the team they broke camp with until Thanksgiving to show them what theyve got, and i think its clear that the main problem areas are backup goalie and 3rd pair defense. With 4 straight important divisional games coming up (BOS isnt in division but it still feels like one), i could see some moves made today. Georgiev & Lundkvist to HFD -> Kinkaid & Jones to NYR

We don’t score there if he does otherwise, sorry. Combination of unbelievable timing of Fox & Lindgren and great vision by 93. Not to mention effective mucking for the puck. It’s a team effort here.

Gallant f***ed up by dressing Tinordi and playing Geo. But he totally redeemed himself. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a coach bench a goalie in a tie game without a crazy score. Tinordi under 12 min and Nemeth under 15 while the top 4 were all over 20 in TOI, is exactly the way a coach should manage this game. Holding players accountable is a breath of fresh air.
If you're not going to play geo here..you're not going to play him anywhere.

This was the perfect backup goalie game

This isn't on gallant this is on Drury for keeping a shit goalie as our backup and forcing gallants hand.

Brendan Smith at 50% outplays Nemetha and Tinordi both at 100%. What is it with the Rangers always having trouble with the 5th and 6th Dmen? They got a great top 4 that produce, play and eat a lot of minutes... what is so difficult in finding a no. 5 and 6 at 1-2 million that just do their damn job for 10-15 mins. a game and keep it real? I've reached the stage where I'd accept to see Hajek (I did see all his 5 games in Hartford, really not that good, totally stunk in 2) ...

Fans clutching their pearl's over a coach yelling at a player. Should Gallant have handed him a participation trophy instead ?

I dunno the only goal that was really terrible was the 4th goal where it seemed like there was no reason for him to be surprised by it. But that's often how it's been with Georgiev...goals against that are kinda like "well OK goalies give that up sometimes" but he gives it up multiple times per games. Seems as if his positioning and anticipation is off but it's been off for a while now

11-4-3. Wow. Exceeded my expectations. To be honest, I'd probably coach us to 5-8-5 at this point. Because no Blackwell and no Howden.

Kakko’s goal today was a good example of being ready with a plan in tight. Kakko could have one timed it but he dragged it a bit and the goalie was absolutely flummoxed. It was beautiful. Chytil panics in close. Like Gauthier. BUT the fact that those guys can even get into such cherry spots is hugely encouraging. Kreider has a bit of that stiffness in close. It’s not the end of the world.
When he potted that I yelled "THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT"

Kakko gets the puck but knows he can't deke the goalie and the two other defenders... he drops his shoulder like he's gonna rip it, waits a half sec then buries it.

Goal scorers goal. If he dips his shoulder & waits another half second he probably doesn't score. It's almost a one move, fake shot - shot.

This makes sense, as I am also a spectator, so I can tell what it’s like. I also make excellent gwg passes with less than a second left. This all tracks.
I'm talking about his game as a whole. Not this one play. No urgency in his game.

He's been no where near what he could or should be.

He needs to go somewhere where he gets a 60-4o split or better. He’s not the type of goalie that’s going to sit for a few games and be sharp when he’s trusted to come in and stop the bleeding.
He was at his best here when he was playing more. The thing is there’s not many teams eager to trade for him and give him that many games with how he’s played in the last 2 ish seasons.
His best bet is going to a bottom feeder like ARI and trying to get hot and get his value up. Similar to what kuemper did.
He’s not going to win a lot of games there, but at least he won’t have the pressure of playing from behind or giving up a goal and having the wheels fall off.
Hopefully there he’d get enough playing time to try and resurrect his career.
Presently, I don’t even think he brings back a 2nd rd pick with his contract and the way he’s played

2nd round pick? No way. Nobody is wasting any assets on this guy. Send him to the A and see if he can build up any value and bring up Kinkaid or Huska.

I was thinking about Smith after the game. But Nemeth was brought in to partner-mentor Lundkvist. The latter is still teething and has not caught on as hoped. The Tinordi acquisition is the one that doesn't make sense in all this. They could've decided not to move on from Smith and kept him as 7D, and he would be playing right side with Nemeth with Lundkvist sitting.

Just to remind you that play doesn’t happen without Kreids doing the dirty work on the boards digging out the puck from 3 Sabres and getting it out to fox who then did what fox does!

2nd round pick? We'd be lucky to get a 7th round pick at this point.

Why exactly? They were just coming off 2 days rest and the next game isn't until Wednesday. Shesty was rested and there was no need to play Georgiev. They have something like 15 more back to backs this season. That is primarily when you play him. He has started 6 games of the 18 so far. Thats way too much for a goalie sporting an .858 save %. He should have never started during this stretch.

Zach and Robertson are getting closer to snatching the shitty Ranger 5-6 D-man moniker away next year is my hope.

It was merely a week ago that the prevailing wisdom of some here was that Panarin sucked. Now he's on his expected pace.

Dude...

Panarin wasn't playing as well as Panarin can play. Panarin said it. Gallant said it. Anybody with eyes could see it.

Why is this something that you think buoys up an argument for ZBad? He also could be playing better. Though he isn't playing nearly as bad as Panarin was to start the year.
