So glad that DL didn't cave in and give up Kempe or Ladue in any deals.
They were reportedly the 2 most sought after.

Watched that goal at least 5 times and so much to love about it.
He really had a burst of speed in the zone and got a decent, deceptive shot off...
and he then darts around the net and instead of going to the net, or slot low,
he goes WAY up, where no one would / could / should follow him up there, 40 feet from the net...but he cuts sharp up high and moves back in at the top of the circle and
he's totally open...Doughty hits him near the faceoff dot and he rifles it. Speed and skill kills. I'm going to watch it a few more times. I think he can freely do stuff like that every game and start racking up goals...as long as his linemates look for him...they need to know he can look out of the play and be open in a second.

Yeah, it would be interesting to review the trades proposed involving Kempe for the sake of making the playoffs this season.

I was reading an article about him and he said he's watching all of Carter's goals and is taking notes how he scores. I was like thank goodness he's not watching Kopis highlights

This made me laugh and cry....

Rosen sounds like high-pitched Rick Jeanneret. Still better than glass breaking Rick.

At first I though Dowd must be leaning so far away from Stoll during Kings Live because Stolly must have farted the big one. Then I realized Dowd was just trying to see Paddy over the crowded table.

Glad to see Kempe doing so well. I had him in my rankings at #9 back in 2014, was super pumped when he fell to the Kings. Nice to see him run with his chance.

Wait was he playing centre tonight? I've said for a while now that I feel he is more natural in the middle, that is where he projects long term.

Maybe spending 43 games in Ontario made a drastic difference, but it sure would have been nice to have had him up all year, especially with how limited our roster is on speed and skill.

In 2012 it was King and Nolan replacing the woefully ineffective Moreau and Hunter.

In 2014 Pearson and Toffoli came up and added much needed skill to a lineup that was playing guys like Frattin, Carcillo, Vey, Stoll, Richards etc.

It sure would have been nice to have had Kempe up here all year instead of Shore, Clifford, King, Andreoff, Setoguchi

Btw, Doughty once again shows he's better with puck when down in the offensive zone rather than stuck on the blue line.

I agree, though he did flub his initial pass attempt. I wish he would play deep more often, especially when they are trailing

But King, Nolan, Pearson, and Toffoli weren't on those teams all year. To add to that, Pearson and Toffoli had better AHL numbers then than Kempe had this year. So did King and Nolan, sort of.

If there was a perfect way to do it, everyone would do it. When is the right time to bring up young players? It's the eternal question every GM asks themselves. There are examples going every which way. Guys that have no problem, guys that are ok, and guys that struggle. Sometimes the guys that struggle never make it, other times they go back down and then get better. If they never make it, the reason ends up being they were brought up too early, and it messed with their head. Even though that may or may not be the reason. Sometimes guys come in right away, play well, even for a year or two, and then fade away. Why? Too much success too early? Never had it to begin with? Just smoke and mirrors?

Should Kempe have been up all year? Maybe? Should he be the 2nd line center today? Maybe? Should he get Kopitar's minutes, since he's been a little more effective lately? Maybe?

It's all a risk no matter what they do. Coaches and GM's will get criticized either way. Unless they make the exact right call, which as you point out right off the bat, is tough to determine. There's no real way to know if those 43 games made any difference one way or another.

he was dynamite for team Canada when he skating it down low and creating chances for his teammates. I wish he'd do it more but I also love how responsible he is

Interesting stat from Rosen's post-game notes:

Anze Kopitar (0-1=1) has 10 points (3-7=10) in the last 10 games.

Also, Iginla has 3 goals in 7 games with the Kings.

Off-topic: I went to my private messages to answer a PM I got the other day and the PM was gone. I didn't realize you could withdraw PMs.

Both of Kempe's goals have been ***** makers as well as the second assist on Toffoli's goal in Colorado.

Nice to see a speed/skill combo out there instead of one or the other.

It might shock people on this board to know that Kopitar has been scoring at his career point-per-game average for the year 2017.

He's bee n a breath of fresh air and I'd love to see the Kings put him at center (he was pretty good there in Sweden) with TT and TP on wing; that could develop into a very young and dynamic line for the Kings for years.

Kempe is one of the most exciting young players we've had come thru the lineup in quite awhile, probably since Toffoli/Pearson. Next up is (hopefully) Brodzinski, would love to see what he can do. Kempe has injected some much needed electricity into the group.

Maybe DL is thinking along those lines

On bringing up more prospects from the Reign
“We’re still looking,†Lombardi said. “You don’t have the roster limits after the (March 1) trade deadline. You can play a kid, but you can also put him in that environment to give him a little taste, even just practicing with (Anze) Kopitar or (Jeff) Carter, so you can use the call-ups in that fashion.

“I can see us doing a few more here right now.â€

In addition to Brodz, the article mentions Amadio LoVerde and Auger.

Amadio is another young player who I'm hyped for, but it might be too early for him to come up. Brodz definitely seems like the next one to be called up, and I'm all for it.
