The guy that wanted Kulich and pick 13 for that bum?So, Ranger fans tossing Schneider's name into the mix is something. Big kid, has an edge to his game, only 21, more of a throwback. If we're talking about a RHD close of Sammy... checks a lot of boxes.

Must be bluest of the bluechips.
@Zman5778 also really likes him as a Samuelsson clone. That's two of you who's opinions i respect. So, Ranger fans tossing Schneider's name into the mix is something. Big kid, has an edge to his game, only 21, more of a throwback. If we're talking about a RHD close of Sammy... checks a lot of boxes.

It's hard to see why NY moves him right now - unless they are getting another ELC contributor in return ?
I'd happily do Kulich 1 for 1 if i believed Schneider was that guy. Gives NY 3 years of ELC production vs 1 year.
Kulich + 13OV seems way too steep however...
Give to get.Not interested in moving Jiri.
Give to get.
Try to negotiate something else (eg in this case 13OV) - but If Kulich was the only deal on the table i think you have to make it - given the embarrassment of riches offensively vs the dearth of talent defensively.
Not moving Kulich, I don't think Schneider is that much of a guarantee to warrant him.
The idea is to keep the high-end prospects they have and use some of their upcoming draft capital to find a player who can satisfy role/fit.
Calgary is the team that would seem like a great fit as a potential trade partner. Especially if their next GM is not Craig Conroy, or another internal option.I wonder if Calgary would entertain moving Tanev this offseason. Given the long term deal Weegar signed, and Andersson still being young with 3 years left on his deal at a bargain, maybe they view Tanev as a luxury on the right side they could use to upgrade their forward group?
He went to RIT, and is from Ontario. Might be a target for Buffalo if Calgary was listening to offers, and he could be willing to extend. Slightly older than Adams would probably like, but I think he's one that's going to age well.
Kulich is untouchable in a Schneider trade. Using the Rangers fanbase definition of untouchable, of course. The guy that wanted Kulich and pick 13 for that bum?

I have no desire to be anywhere near my cousins.Calgary is the team that would seem like a great fit as a potential trade partner. Especially if their next GM is not Craig Conroy, or another internal option.
But regardless of who their next GM is, they have to clear cap and they have D to trade.
I also wonder if Weegar could be on the market before his full NTC kicks in on 7/1.
Maybe he wouldn't mind living closer to home and in the same town as his cousin...
You do realize that the money going back would have most likely been Joker or Boosh right. The Maintenance Day podcast got pretty funny when they got to defense in their post Granato/Adams press conference episode.
With goalie they were like…you can stand there and tell me you trust UPL but we just watched that you didn’t down the stretch at all.
With forward they were like…you really need to change up something and get a different type of player in the mix.
then they got to defense and Adams being noncommittal about upgrading and we’re like…OK…YOU CAN BRING ALL THE FORWARDS BACK…GOALIES WHATEVER…BUT YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO GET A TOP 4 D. They just abandoned everything at the idea of running back the defense. Went over a half dozen reasons why that we’ve all been through. It’s a non starter.
Then Yerdon said something extremely scary. About the Chychrun trade that wasn’t done with us. That it fell apart because we wanted them to take money back.
I’m going to go cry in the shower until we get new ownership. Trying not to think that the reason Adams, who sits in one of the best spots in the league to build a winner with his cap space and assets, just downplayed expectations so hard because he isn’t allowed to build a team. He’s only allowed to be cheap.

I mean AZ flatout said they were not taking back any salary in a Chyc deal, so if we planned to send a single roster player back that would kill the deals.That....doesn't make a ton of sense.
Chychrun made 3.5M last year.
Greenway made 2.5M
They did not take back salary in the Greenway trade.
And considering there was a 1/3 of the season left, it's a functional 1/3 of a million. Less when you consider escrow.
I suppose Bjork being moved out could have been to make room in the budget for Greenway.
You know me, I've accused them of being foolish penny pinchers the last two years.
I just don't think, when they OK'd the greenway deal, the ownership would have veto'd the Chychrun deal. Unless there is some hard budget number Kevyn and Co can't go over.
Honestly I think a fair deal for Roy, without an extension, is a 2024 1st. Maybe a small + from our side (their 3rd back? Maybe a prospect like Weissbach/Cederqvist?)I'd give up 13OA all day for Matt Roy tbh
EDIT:
Just to expand on this - Matt Roy is pretty much everything we would want in a defenseman.
- Good PKer
- Hits/blocks shots
- RHD
- Not totally useless offensively
- Very good charts/fancy stats
- 28 (no more developing, in his prime)
Only potential downside is he's signed only through next year then he's a UFA. So 13th OA may be a little rich for Roy if I may backpedal a bit from my original statement. However if we have an extension in place at a reasonable number - then yes 13OA is 100% in play.
Kulich IS the guy. If you're trading a forward prospect, you trade someone else. There won't be space for all the high-end offensive guys Adams has already collected.
Most proposals lead with Rosen as our big trade chip - understandably - then Ostlund.
But if it's a question of moving a guy like Kulich to get what we need - or no deal - you have to make the move imo.
If you don't believe that Schneider is that guy... then look to trade for someone else instead. I'd understood from reading your earlier post that you believed he WAS that guy.
Neither Kulich or Savoie have played themselves into 'core' conversation yet. Neither have even played one NHL game.Kulich IS the guy. If you're trading a forward prospect, you trade someone else.
Maybe. But you don’t give up Kulich or Savoie unless you’re trading for a top pairing guy. The Sabres don’t necessarily need a top pair guy, they need a second pair dman to push joki down the roster or off the team. In that case, 1st + Rosen is more than fair as a starting point.Neither Kulich or Savoie have played themselves into 'core' conversation yet. Neither have even played one NHL game.
They may do in future - but it will be at the expense of somebody else if/when it happens.
