How does the salary work? Must be more to it...

@Der Jaeger
Kind of ironic that some of us were talking Tuch/Krebs/R1 back in May... Why did it take them so long? :laugh:

I don’t think Vegas had Krebs in the deal until Brisson became Eichel’s agent, if I had to guess.

So I can think of two specific posters who will be thrilled by this - @Der Jaeger has long loved Tuch's game. Jame was a huge Krebs fan in his draft year as well.

I'm curious if there is more salary coming along. Seems like this is low.

Finally, Tuch!

LTIR vs regular IR is a meaningless distinction here. Yes, the Sabres have no reason to use LTIR, but players on LTIR still count against the cap so it's not like things would be magically different one way or another. Also, per CapFriendly, the Sabres are at ~$65.6M pre-trade, so Eichel's $10M minus Tuch's $4.75M means they clear $5.25M, leaving them at about $60.3 and change, which is just above the floor of $60.2M.

There still will have to be additional moves coming since, as things would stand here, the Sabres can't activate Mittlestadt or Jokiharju from IR since they're too close to the floor to send anyone on their roster now to the AHL.

I wonder if there's any truth to the Korpisalo rumour? If the cost is only a mid round pick it seems to make sense.

We waited this long, for this return? Why in the world wasn't this done before the season? Just seems odd that this was the very best deal they could have gotten for Eichel. Just glad this whole thing is over. Turning the page, and excited for Mitts, Dahlin, Power, Cozens, Quinn, Peterka, Krebs, and 3 firsts next year.

Vegas reportedly wouldn't put Krebs in the deal in the off season.

Will fix everything
To be honest, this is probably 1 piece short. I wonder what the return looks like:

A) If a deal is done this summer
B) If Buffalo were willing to retain 2M.

I hope Krebs gets some Rochester time with Quinn and Peterka. I also hope there's another trade coming for some immediate help for the roster. Now that the Eichel deal is done and we essentially got a RW on IR and we're edging the cap floor, let's go out and find some way to use all our cap space to improve the roster or at least gather additional assets.

I was going to say, there better not be retention with the underwhelming return they got.
