so jack asked for a trade unless we were gonna try and be competitive, we tried, he sucked all year, got hurt, THEN tried to say he wanted a surgery that the teams medical staff disagreed with and that’s why he needed to be traded? basically threw the team under the bus and lied about it. not very good imo. i honestly don’t wish him any good will at all

it’s crazy to me that he has to do some big interview after the trade too. just screams desperate egotism

I fully expect Eichel to tear it up for Vegas if he returns to full health & have no bad feelings towards them if that happens.

Of course he will. He's something like a 1.3 point per game player when going well, especially if surrounded by talent.

I still can't believe we just gave him away.

We all knew this would be the result of the trade all along, but it still hurts!

There's no trying to be competitive when you employ Ralph Krueger and hire ANOTHER rookie GM, have Carter Hutton as your starting goaltender, and trade for Staal, and sign Taylor Hall when you have a lot of weaknesses on the team.

He sucked all year because he was freaking injured before the season even began. Then he got hurt again.

If he wasn't interested in a rebuild and made that aware to the Sabres, and he was using the surgery as leverage to get off the team, then disagreeing with the team medical staff wouldn't make sense if one wanted off the team asap.

Guess who just lost this trade? Hint: it wasn't Las Vegas.

So if Eichel plays well for Vegas and they crap out in the 2nd round, then have cap struggles over the summer and field a team that barely makes the playoffs during the rest of his time, they still win?
Or if Eichel plays well for two or three years and then takes a hard hit and his ADR dislodges and he can't play again. They still win?
Or if Eichel just pouts and snorts his way in Vegas like his buddy Kane. They still win?

Yeah, too early to say win or lose. You're projecting what you hope. NOBODY knows who wins or loses. Too many variables. But grats to you for trying to look cool. Didn't work, but grats on trying.

I know we are all Sabres fans, well ... I think we are, some of you post like you hate the team :), but I it's good to remind everyone that Jack is just a person like us. Did I like him as a Sabre? Yes and no. His performance in his peak were damn impressive, but his body language always screamed negativity to me. I'm happy to see him go BUT I'm also really happy for Jack. I'd hate to be in a position where I want to do something that I think is best for me, to not be able to, to have to live in pain, and watch the hockey world continue on without me. As Jeff Marek said, to go to bed each night thinking "I'm not 1 day closer to surgery". I imagine his relief must be huge, and I'm happy for him as a person.

Looking forward to seeing what the Post-Eichel Sabres can do though. Peterka-Krebs-Quinn is a great AHL line. Has an entire line ever been brought up together into an NHL team?
