I dont see how this is a bad contract. Hes produced at a 65+ points rate for the past 3 seasons. Hes just 28. He took less money for more term. Thats just how it goes.

Moulson and Okposo. Tavares 2 best friends in the world. I'm starting to get nervous. john Tavares name already hangs in the rafters there.

Maybe JT was the $12 million player Murray was talking about, not Stamkos. Hmm wonder if he would come watch uncle John play at the arena and maybe had a conversation or 2. All the argument's for Stamkos apply to Tavares with the added benefit of his name already in the rafters.

Spot on and a Jeckyl-Hyde type player if there ever was one. Nice player and by all accounts a great guy but this is the reason resigning KO on NYI board was a 50/50 split on retaining him. Frustrating guy because the ability is there. Consistency was not. Maybe new start / team will be good for him.

Serious eye - retina issues that were a little concerning. Totally disappeared in playoffs during his FA year not a good sign as far as I was concerned. Coughed up pucks, toe drags and stupid play cost the Islanders against Tampa.

Stafford 2.0 then ?????

It's one of the few genuinely good contracts today.

Wasn't it reported that 10 teams were interested? This could have gotten out of hand quickly, don't know why anyone would say it's a bad deal honestly. In years past the top free agents literally broke their new team before playing a game. Would you rather pay Okposo or Clarkson from here forward?

Tough call.

So we're the favorites for Tavares now, right Leafs fans?

(I kid, NYI fans.)

It's been written in stone long ago. #BuffaloBandits.

Bandits pun intended. They steal Moulson Okposo and maybe even Tavares from the isles.

He's got 2 very young kids, his daughter is like 3 and his son is like 6 months old. Moving to French speaking Montreal would be a serious culture shock. Him and his family probably wanted to remain in America.

Buffalo is a very family friendly area for kids. Amherst/Clarence, East Aurora/Orchard Park, or Elmwood Village are all nice places.

Good youth hockey programs too.

Winters do suck in Buffalo. Outside of the occasional lake effect blizzard, the winter weather isn't much different compared to Detroit,Toronto, Cleveland, Chicago. But even then, it's overblown how bad the weather is here. Late Spring, Summers, and early Autumn are great.

Seeing a lot of posts like this describing how terrible of a player KO is. How did he get 60 some odd points while being this terrible? Can't skate, can't shoot, falls down all the time, deconditioned....60 points

Parenteau averaged 60 points a year in 2 years here. Not crying over Kyle's departure. Mediocre coaching staff and GM staying worth crying over.

Terrible contract. BUffalo is rushing the rebuild and will be in cap hell soon enough.

Lol

This guy spent all offseason yelling about Buffalos cap and why they shouldn't sign Stamkos because of Eichel and Reinhart (and then pretended his Leafs could without problem because I guess Matthews, Marner and Nylander are all going to play for nothing down the line...). They sign Okposo to a completely reasonable deal and here he is.

Lol

Okposo has played well with both JT and Frans Nielsen. He has moved between the top two lines.
I am curious to see which line he plays on, which center he plays with in Buffalo.

He needs to play with ROR or he actually can hurt Eichel's game. Eichel has too much talents and does not need him to put up big points (see all the top elite centres in the league - that is what they can do).

He can then focus on playing a simplified game. This way he can also conserve energy and therefore be more productive.

He adds value to Sabres because he is really good at shootout and can help to win those valuable point to make the playoff.

He is a great locker room guy and a very good teammate but his hockey IQ has been lacking 50% of the time. This is a good contract for him because of the term and the money is decent too.
