Gorton traded for Brendan Lemieux, drafted Lias Andersson, signed Micheal Haley, signed Cody McLeod, traded for Adam McQuaid, gave Trouba a massive contract, targeted Brett Howden from Tampa, doubled down on the coach who loved Howden, and doubled down on the coach who was playing Kevin Rooney over Kaapo Kakko.

To say "Gorton doesn't do this" is major revision. Gorton sacrificed for grit all the time. The only difference is that 90% of the grit Gorton wanted were non-NHL players.
Since you put it that way. Ok.

Yeah, I don't hate the player. He has whatever analytics, not "oh my god somebody bled all over my screen!" red bars (like Howden). Whenever I catch St. Louis, the announcer is always like "Blais, Blais Blais, Blais, Blais," over and over again. He plays like there's three of him. That's pretty good I guess.

It's just that, either we overrated Buchnevich's value or Drury underated it.

We'll never know, but if he just didn't have the value we thought he did, it is what it is. If Drury sought out Blais specifically and brought up Buchnevich, I would feel pretty bad about that.

You think it's a coincidence that we just happened to trade for two very similar players in the last week?

Of course Drury sought out Blais specifically.

So here's the duality of this roster, it's not a terrible top 9 by any stretch:

Lafrenière-Zibanejad-Kakko
Panarin-Chytil-Kravtsov
Kreider/Barron-Goodrow-Blais

The problem isn't what we're constructing, it's the price we're paying for materials.
So our 3rd line is gonna be Kreider and guys who cant score?

This makes me believe in the 15th for Deslausiers rumor now. NHL teams across the league are probably lining up to pillage our young talent from the clowns in the front office.

Step right up for the Madison Square Garden Circus presented by Glen and Chris! Where else can you get Kravstov for Brandon Tanev and Lundkvist for David Savard! Step right up, step right up!
Oh f*** me you might be right

Yeah but he didn't pay a first line winger for it.

I will say this, on positive side: we added a lot of grit and both of them are NHL players. That could have gone a lot worse. As long as I can remember, the Rangers love their ECHL guys who hit sometimes. Neither Goodrow nor Blais is that.

I agree. Id rather have Blais than Reaves, if we are talking straight up roster construction.

So in that sense (and maybe only that sense) it could be worse.

Where is Strome? Did we trade him for someone who is 220 6"3 big but plays like Jack Johnson on D?

Yeah the value is off with this trade, but bit of an overreaction, no?
We haven't given away any young talent yet, and if anything we've created an opportunity for the young talent we have to step up...

I see you left off Strome. Hint?

Strome is still here and it's unlikely he will be moved, IMO.

So more likely we are going to see:
Lafrenière-Zibanejad-Kakko
Panarin-Chytil-Strome
Kreider-Goodrow (or Blais) -Kravtsov

Where does Eichel fit into this

Let's a trade away a guy who reached the ceiling that we hope our fortuitous 1OA and 2OA can reach for a 2nd round pick and a bottom 6 grinder that we would have ended up with if we didn't win the lottery in the first place. This is literally just undoing the lotto wins.
