Some perspective, If I am a GM and I hear that most of the Bruins top players are out I KNOW their season is in jeopardy.

I offer them some solutions at 10x the inflated price.

Price is driven by demand. GMs are predatory, they don't hand each other liferafts. They hand each other anchors.

We can't just ask Sweeney to wave a wand and make a C and RW appear without mortgaging our future by paying in our young talent.

In NHL video games you can make trades with a balance of talent. That rarely happens in the NHL because the circumstances play a huge role in price.

Precisely correct, thats why you ride it out for 4-6 weeks unless a fair /sensible deal happens. Maybe someone steps up big time and the bruins stay a float and at worst case scenario, they just miss the playoffs and lose out on the Jack Hughes sweepstakes;).

looking at teams with bad records, and/or bad goal differential (likely to drop in the standings); any interest in Silfverberg?

good for 40pts a season, usually has better numbers in the playoffs. Listed as a LW but shoots right, so might be able to play RW. Signed for 3.75, UFA at the end of the year

I have repeatedly mentioned Silfverberg in this thread. Crickets. He’s a perfect fit.

Interest is not the issue.

I have interest in McDavid. Doesn't mean there is a fractional chance of it happening.

Silfverberg is a steady 40 pts guy, even this year he is projected at a 40 pt pace again. making 3.5 and will want a raise to 5 mil IMO. He is tied for 3rd on Anaheim in pts at 10 with most of their defenseman. If they can't resign him, which would be their smartest move, they will create a market in February and let the bidding war drive up his price.

See no reason why they should move him now unless someone offers a whopper of a deal.

Guys I would love to see in Boston?

Dylan Larkin - 4 more yrs after this season @ $6.1m
Taylor Hall - 1 more yr @ $6
Sean Monahan - 4 more yrs @ $6.4

Would be tough to pull off a trade for any of these guys, but I could see a package for Monahan IF Calgary felt like they either (a) could make serious playoff noise or (b) totally fell apart.

Can't see NJ retaining Hall once he's a UFA...he's got to want more than to play in Jersey, no?

I cant see any of those names coming to Boston unless we are losing a player we need or through ufa. Yes to all three though

We have had a 3rd line center hole all season, so we were already one injury away from serious problems. It's hard to have the timing down. When things are good you don't want to deal. When things are bad you get taken advantage of.

Stand pat until everyone is healthy. By then, Sweeney and co will have taken a LONG look at every depth option in the organization - and should know whether they are able to fill needs internally or externally. At the same time, they are showcasing talent.

I am hopeful that Colby Cave has developed some offensive ability in PRO. It would be SO GREAT if the Bruins could address the 3C option internally. That way, a move for a winger to play next to Krejci and in front of the net (where Backes is supposed to play) on the PP is an attainable target.

If not, team at the bottom of the league will likely be ready to deal.

I really hope Bergeron is able to come back for the Winter Classic. :/

we should make 2 moves immediately

sign Kovar... that's the no brainer/easy one

and I also suggest we make a deal with Columbus and take the riley nash mistake off their hands

if nash needs to be bought out next year its only a .917k cap hit for 4 years. its not ideal, but if he plays well for us down the stretch we might be able to trade him

nash has played well with marchand/pastrnak and if the guy has any pride at all he should perform for us again

we got the cap room to absorb these hits... and then id take my time looking around for the right krug/Heinen trades in the next couple months

Bergeron and chara getting these rests could actually be a bonus for us come playoff time when they might be able to be more rested and able to play better for us

At this point why would you assume there will be a point when "everyone" is healthy?

Just my opinion of players I'd rather have over Barkov lol. Like I said in my original post, I didn't dive into stats or anything, I just took names off the top of my head. I bet if you run Barkov vs the rest of the NHL centers since he had a breakout year in 2015 he's not top 10 in production. Is production the end all be all? no, but it's a pretty good piece of the pie.

He's something like 0.9 PPG since 2015, so he's up there. He also has one of the best defensive sticks in the league, practically Bergeron level. This is what separates him from his peers. As others have said, if he was in a larger market he'd receive greater recognition.

uh, why? there was a reason why Riley Nash wasn't retained.... Nash was blocking who in the organization, who has taken a shot at the 3rd Center....

I would LOVE Hall on this team. But not at the cost of whatever assets it would take.

I'd take a long, hard look at signing him in the offseason though that's for damn sure.
