why would Buffalo trade interdivision, Dizzay?

I'd think they'd be open to trading with anyone if they got the right deal, especially since they seem to be a few years away from competing for a cup.

I think, especially since Kane is a UFA to be and could walk away after the season, that the Bruins would be more reluctant to trade with Buffalo than the other way around. Say Boston sends JFK and a pick there for Kane (just and example, not suggesting this deal) and Kane signs with LA in the summer. If the B's don't at least make it to the SC finals, they are sitting here possibly watching JFK be a productive player against them for 10 years, with nothing to show for it.

I honestly don't know what they should do at this point. I think they should be buyers if they can, but I don't think they should sell the farm for someone either.

I'd like to see them add some size in the bottom 6 (then again, the bottom 6 has been playing fantastic hockey) - I'm just worried about them in a 7 game series against a heavy team.

I just don't want to see them unload a pick or two for a guy like Jussi Jokinen or something.

I think hornqvist would be a perfect fit at the deadline. Would help a lot in the playoffs. I'd think a our second and one of the ld prospects would get it done. Contract is up at the end of this year so no commitment. Obviously the pens would need to be sellers which may not be the case

EXCEPT THIS: no one wants Evander Kane anywhere near Boston or Providence, Dizzay..... JFK is an extremely poor example to use on top of that in the above example

Really???

I would love him. I just don't like the idea of trading for a left-wing when the Bruins are so deep at that position and of course the fact that he could walk at the end of the season and exactly what Sarge88 said we could end up having to watch the player/players who were trade for Kane help the Sabres beat the Bruins for yrs to come.

I’ll stay away from Kane if they want a ransom. I’ve had a soft spot since he knocked Matt Cooke out but I don’t like his demeanor off the ice. Just seems like someone you need to keep an eye on. He’s also never played on a real contending team so something like that could make a positive impact.

Except this;

As with every single player in sports....it depends on the price. Would you take Kane for a 5th rounder in 2020? For Postma? For Gabrielle?

I am pretty iffy on Kane too. LW is not an issue here. If the price was low enough to not hurt a lot (B prospect and a 2nd or 3rd), fine.

Stone from Ottawa - but I guess he's not available.
Stand pat then.

Do people really expect a big name being added? They'll grab a depth guy or two and call it a day. It will probably be a d-man too, I don't think they plan on adding anything up front by the looks of things.

We already have the better version in David Backes.

Erik Karlsson.
OTTAWA SUN:
Bruce Garrioch reports the Senators don’t want to engage in a full tear-down, Garrioch said general manager Pierre Dorion could be ready to “strike at the core of the team” to send a message that no one is safe. Except for Erik Karlsson and Mark Stone, Garrioch claims pretty much every player is available.
He reports there’s “significant interest” in forwards Mike Hoffman, Zack Smith and Jean-Gabriel Pageau. While there’s been inquiries about center Derick Brassard, he’s not going anywhere. There also hasn’t been many calls about defenseman Cody Ceci. He also suggests veteran defenseman Johnny Oduya could be moved and there could be interest in forwards Ryan Dzingel and Alex Burrows.

Could be a different looking Sens team by the time the Bruins roll back into Ottawa later this month.

So, everyone is available except EK and Mark Stone. Then states Derick Brassard isn't going anywhere. Which is it? Reporting out of Ottawa is about as messed up as their team!
:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I guess we can just sit back and watch the show:popcorn: and hopefully have Dorion sends us a pretty good New years gift.:nod:

Wouldn't mind Pageau for cheap after his playoff performance.

Hoffman playing on his offside with Krejci isn't a bad look. He is basically what we want Vatrano to be. Elite shot, but he actually knows how to get it off. Since the start of the 2014-15 campaign, only 17 players have scored more five-on-five goals than Hoffman. Three years left on his contract means its not a rental, but not so long that the Bruins start running into bad years on the deal.

There's a lot to like about Hoffman. But they need to find a way to get Beleskey off the books. Yes, there might be a way to move some lower contracts without moving Beleskey to get a Hoffman deal done, but I'd rather see them be proactive with clearing up some of the dead weight in regards to the cap instead of trying to make a hockey move to tweak the roster when they don't really need one.

I can't find the link right now, but they reported (and quoted) Dorion as saying he has held talks with 28 teams. Personally, I find it hard to believe two teams haven't had discussions with him.

As for who is available and who isn't, I am sure that out of 28 GM's, someone has asked about the so-called "untouchables". And if Dorion is unwilling to listen, then as a Sens fan and even ownership, I'd be looking for a new GM.
