David Quinn should be fired sooner rather than later. This team is unprepared in every game, there is zero offensive flow, the pp is trash, and guys just dont give a shit. f*** this coach and get a real professional in here.
they literally played their best hockey in the first period

I thought Fox came in too slow on that potential 2 on 1, where Buchnevich waited and eventually got the passed picked off. Got to read that a little better and just take the shot or pass sooner. Zibanejad should have acknowledged he didn't need enter the zone so low.

Buchnevic has been good this year. He still fails to bury so many good chances. It would be nice, if the Kakko could take that 1st line RW role. That’s what you would expect and hope for the #2 overall pick.

It would be excellent if Buchnevic would be a super stud 3rd liner.

But holy cow, this team needs C in the worst way. Miss Chytil.
Buch is not a 1st liner, simple as that. Not enough skill, no finish. A very good middle sixer. Kreider too.

I thought we played a good game, Rask had our number though. The Panarin giveaway sucked and Buch should shoot more but overall a good game i thought.

Zib looked decent and just appears to be snakebitten. That said, a player of his importance should be measured by results and his report card isn't even an F, it's a suspension from class.

Zibanejad looked more like himself, i think he is getting there, unfortunately we're likely gonna be missing Panarin for a bit imo. Hope Laf is up for the challenge.

The worst part is Georgiev has lost so much trade value.
Should’ve sold high on him. I said that all along, regardless of whether or not we bought Lundqvist out.

I feel like this organization’s evaluation of Georgiev is out of whack. It’s like they look at his games where he plays amazing and think that’s is who he really is without realizing that for every one of those games he has 3 mediocre games and 1 terrible game.

I thought Georgiev made maybe a couple saves but I agree. Some people are on here thinking he was good. I don’t know what game they were watching, no offense. He could’ve stop one of the three goals? Seriously? Ridiculous. Listen, Rask and B’s won bc he was better in net.
This is all true, but at the same time I can't really fault Georgijev for any of the goals. Sure, he left the 5 hole open in the 2nd goal, but the skaters left the front of the net open for a Bruins player. 2 other goals were breakaway goals, those are never on a goalie.

Rask is one of the best goalies in the league. Georgijev is a backup. It is what it is. If it was up to me I would've let Georgijev have the net against the Islanders, and then go with Igor back to back against the Bruins. Especially now, since the Flyers game has been postponed.

The goal scoring is the bigger problem.

Rask is expected to be better in net. If one end has Rask and the other has Georgiev, goaltending should always favor the side that has Rask.

Georgiev isn't an elite goalie.

The rest of our team should always need to cover the difference, and they don't, they make costly mistakes and get lazy.

correct. for where he was drafted, but is a success. but he’s not a 1st liner nor should he be treated as such. both are middle six guys. that’s why the kreider contract hurts so much. I mean kreider can take over for a game or two when someone gets hurt, but he shouldn’t be counted on as a 1st liner. he’s got speed but very little skill. same with buch. they play hard but you can’t count on then to carry an offense. that’s why buch’s development under quinn shouldn’t be compared to kakko’s and laf’s. they’re different breeds.

ideally kreider would play on a 3rd line “energy line”, forechecking hard and scoring dirty goals with some occasional pretty skill plays.

I know it's not a big deal but Marchand doing that shit to Panarin knowing he was hurt says a lot about this team. Then he comes out in OT and scores the game winner. The team has no balls and no heart and everyone laughs at character and grit but you need it in this division and this team doesn't have enough of it. Not enough players willing to go to the dirty areas on the ice. Too many "shucks, we will get them next time" guys on this team that are content with losing. It's embarassing and it's a reflection of the coach imo. Everything is perimeter hockey and behind the net

Well at least they’re starting to get a sense that hey maybe Georgiev isn’t a starter haha

Maybe he’ll stick around longer now that interest in him around the league has probably dried up lol

Good stuff:

Kakko was great.
Fox was real good.
Zibanejad at least shoots the puck now.

Bad stuff:

Panarin got hurt.
Zibanejad is cursed.
Strome should be a 3C.

Zibanejad looked like his usual self, aside from fumbling that 2 on 1 in the first period. That’s encouraging.

Kakko was a beast and Lafreniere had a really strong 3rd period.

Fox was special.

Those are positives at least.

this team isn’t playing cohesive hockey. we’re seeing some good efforts, but not finishing. we miss chytil badly. mika at least looked incredibly good this game. kakko continues to steamroll. laf made s couple incredibly good setups that weren’t finished. this team is doing some good things, but we’re not a complete package.

I think it would be a bad idea to fire quinn now. wait until the end of the season. this season is lost. hope for more good lottery luck.

We are 1 point out of a playoff spot with 45 games to play. I'm not saying its going to be easy but season is certainly not lost.

Has Georgiev stopped a clean breakaway in his last 50 games? Jebus... just one man. He is killing his own effort and good play by bending over on every breakaway. He looks real dumb too getting beat on every breakaway.

He was basically on his stomach off a routine move. People were killing Shesterkin in his shootout, he wasn't great but at least he wasn't a beer league goalie on those breakaways. And that second goal was terrible too, put your stick down.
