Getting tired of the standard “opposition goalie stood on his head in a Vezina worthy display”.

Eventually you gotta realise that it’s not their goalies that are “that good”, it’s that our guys AREN’T.

I don’t even notice Howden on the ice he has absolutely zero impact on the game.

agreed the GM should step in and trade him so DQ can’t play him. He’s Just meh .... fills a spot and doesn’t kill ya but doesn’t chip in enough offensively

Certainly trying to be patient with Laf but he’s got to play a stronger game. He’s just down right soft most shifts. That also was not what we were told about him prior to the draft. The backhand passes have got to stop and the resistance to make the tough play needs to be broken from him. He’s clearly got a lot of talent and posses all the attributes to be a long term star in the league but he needs a bunch of poor habits broken from his game.

If only we had a coach who actually knew how to develop NHL talent...

Losses are tough, but lets be fair and stop laying blame on guys like Howden and Georgiev. Georgiev played a pretty decent game last night. I'm sure he would have liked at least one of those goals back, but he also made some outstanding saves. Howden has become a whipping boy. The kid isn't an offensive threat, but he is also a fourth line center, making very little money. What are we expecting?

The real concern should be our high priced players not producing. Bread has been fine. He's making plays and setting up his linemates, as we would expect. Zibby has been invisible up till last night. Kreider isn't using his speed effectively and has hands of stone. Trouba should be arrested for robbery every time he collects his paycheck. If this guy was making $4M, I would cut him more slack. Strome is useless unless he is tapping in goals spoonfed from Bread. Buch seems to waiver game to game. That 2 on 1 last night was about as bad as it gets.

It would be amazing in Laf and Kakko were filling up the net, but they aren't the problem. They will both be major parts of what will, eventually, be a very good team. Fox, KAM, Lindgren and the slew of prospects are going to be amazing for years to come. Hell, Hajek has been pretty good too.

I do think we will need to make a significant trade at some point and cut away some dead wood. That's on Gorton.

I believe the rule is that because he didn't score off the deflection and the first person to touch it was a Bruin (Rask) it was the right call.

I know that in USA hockey rules( and I don’t know exactly the rule in the NHL) that a puck deflected by a high stick that then hits the goalie is thus determined to be a shot on goal which results in an immediate whistle( you can’t high stick a puck off the goalie and then allow play to continue.) Been a USA hockey official for over 20 years. I’d assume the NHL rule is the same but I honestly don’t know with 100% certainty.

I think the officials missed the call but that’s a really tough call to make.

Marchand would be another Di Giuseppe here. They would suck all the douchebagness and grit out of him
Yes. If you're a douchebag, dont come to the Rangers. They will cut your balls off. Seriously, just look closely.
We have some nice douchebags, but each one of Lemieux, Smith and Tony got seriously reprimanded for misbehaving. One way or the other.

I can appreciate a tight game like this one, and in a vacuum I would have found this game enjoyable. The problem is that it feels like every game is the same game this year. Our scorers never show up. The kids never get on the board. In a season of ups and downs and all kinds of games, one like tonight’s is a tight battle and an acceptable, if disappointing, loss. In a series of games that all feel and play out almost exactly the same, it becomes monotonous.
Yeah, I hear you man. You are right. We're just not there YET.
Would it feel differently if we WON these games? Probably.
Thing is, if games are going to "mirror one another", I would prefer this over every game being a 5-1 blowout, win or lose, with victor not decided till final minutes.
Come to think of it, we rarely play blow out games.

Looked like he pulled something (groin?). Wasn't so happy with Quinn playing him on the PP, this isn't the playoffs, we don't need to risk further inuring whatever his injury is to win a regular season game. Esp when you have rat boy Marchant taking advantage of him being injured and going for the hit.

Of all the things you can potentially complain when it comes to Quinn, what happened with Panarin last night is unacceptable. I'm shocked more people are not upset about it. It was plain as day to everyone, including the Bruins, that Panarin was not right. Kudos for Panarin wanting to give it a go but as a coach you simply can't put your franchise player out there on one leg with a neon target that says please hit me. The incident with Marchand is totally on Quinn and if it was a soft tissue strain(groin, hammy) we can only hope he did not aggravate it further. Incredibly short sighted and dangerous decision by Quinn.

The high stick deflection hit the defenseman before Rask.

this is how I understand it as well. The only funky thing here is determining if it was for sure a high stick so they’d have to overturn that call on the ice. The puck did hit a Boston player first then rask. So that’s interesting

Right but in that case deflection does not equal possession. If he would have caught the puck or played the puck after it hit him that equals possession. Just having it hit his shoulder on the way by is irrelevant to the idea of "possession."

Right and specific to that point, I was listening to the game on the radio as I was driving back from CT and Dave made a great point. The original high stick by the Rangers is not reviewable since a puck played with a high stick that DOES NOT result in a goal is not reviewable.

That was so angering. He had 3 steps on the nearest Bruin. Kreider was too far back. Bruins were tired out there.

Pulling up and waiting was 150% the wrong play. It was completely idiotic.
That play sums up the entire season for me so far... just dumb, passive, pansy ass, idiotic plays that show the constant “fear” this team plays with.
Be greedy and WANT to score that goal!
screw the fancy pass to a trailer through 2 defenders’ sticks.
WANT IT AND MAKE IT HAPPEN

I want Smith back in the lineup, a well placed Elbow to Marchand is necessary for his targeting of the only injured guy on the ice. As much as people slack on smith, if he's on the ice there marchand is getting a punch in the mouth.

You people twisting yourselves into pretzels blaming Quinn and Howden is a lot to read so early in the morning and comical. They are not sacrificing offense for defense. They had 38 shots last night. They played within their structure and generated tons of scoring chances They didn’t lose the last two games because of Quinn or Howden or the ghost of Marc Staal. They lost because their two superstar forwards couldn’t bury breakaways at critical moments of the game.

Pull your heads out of your asses and stop with the whoa is me nonsense.

ok now that I'm not mad anymore here are some thoughts up until this point in the season

1. I f***ing hate Ryan Strome. dude has cat shit for brains. I'm not in a position to hate him that much since our centers are non-existent this year but how many times is this guy going to whiff on an easy chance to help us win? it's ridiculous.

2. kakko and laf ramped it up today quite a bit, especially kakko. he's looked like a wrecking ball and that's against a very, very good team. I'm frustrated they have so few points but they're looking good and should definitely have more.

3. this board is insufferable when we play against good goalies. rask played a really good game. a good game doesn't need to be highway robbery saves left and right. the Rangers hugely outchanced Boston at ES. it's only ok when our goalie stonewalls a team. when an opposition does it we "have no backbone" or whatever

4. I know it's not his fault and we really have no other options but Howden is AWFUL outside of the 4th line. dude has absolutely no offensive talent. none at all. I'd almost rather Rooney get his minutes.

5. easily Zib's best game of the year

6. it's not his fault we lost but I'm so sick of Geo. He gets too many games. I don't understand why

7. Quinn really loves this "lost them on the bench" act doesn't he? AV did it once (in a playoff game, no less) and the entire board did not live it down. This is the 3rd(?) time Quinn has openly admitted to it.

8. happy that Gaut is starting to pick it up. i'd scratch howden when blackwell comes back tbh.

9. listen, they're vastly improved defensively and even if it's a different system yada yada, I think i'd rather they be strong defensively than offensively since that's what wins in the playoffs. these games are heartbreakers though. no easy losses, except those two isles losses. all 1 goal, down to the wire losses. it really sucks to watch compounded with the entire top 9 snake bitten. you just don't feel like you have a chance.

I'm not sure the bolded is true. When Hank stole us games all we'd hear about is how bad our fancy stats were.

All I know is that no channel better show that stupid Sam Adams Boston guy commercial today when I'm looking at the TV.
