... because they may be all we get after trading away a couple drafts with of picks

yeah, and????

Like there is something wrong with trying to boost the odds of winning the Stanley cup. I'm just glad they decided to prioritize prospects who are showing signs of developing well over picks

If we do not resign our PBruin FAs would that give us more contract spots available?

Yes, when people like Ahcan, Hall and others leave they will not count against the bruins 2023 contract limit

They have 25 open contract spots for next season. They'll have to sign Poitras and Edward but those 2 contracts slide and will not count against the 50.

I don't think they are desperate for contract spots next season. In fact, they should probably ink Luke Toporowski now to an NHL contract.

Locmelis is too good for that league. :sarcasm:

Remember when Don Sweeney drafted Lohrei?

Hope McLaughlin is alright. I think he got punched right on the visor and it sliced him.

Warning: a lot of blood if you don’t want to see that stuff

Is the relationship good enough with Achan that if Gryz wasn't wearing a spoked B after the draft that Achan would consider coming back on a one way contract? Or is he ready to move on no matter what.

Welcome to the Jungle
I prefer zboril.

Lohrei about to leap frog him I hope.
In terms of Zboril or Ahcan, the scary thing is, unless we trade away a high priced forward we may need both of them. I'm on the bandwagon of trading away a forward that I love in order to sign Orlov and ride a ridiculous top 4. Develop guys on the bottom pair and have the horses to allow you to play 4 d in a tight 3rd period.

Zboril plays both sides, going to need to replace Clifton after he walks for big $$$. hes signed just over a million and isnt going anywhere

Not bad...but I'm guessing Merk belongs in the top 10 ahead of Kuntar and Locmelis probably a top 5 prospect.

Interesting to note McMuffin, Steen are missing.

Merkulov is a definite number 3 for me behind Lysell/Lohrei. Poitras is 4th. I love Duran, but I wouldn't have him that high.

I have to quickly touch on two players here. The first is Matthew Poitras. I was asked often at draft time if I would have preferred Danny Zhilkin or David Goyette over Poitras at the time and my answer was yes and it reflected in my OHL draft rankings. But it came with an understanding that it was difficult because we didn’t have a prior season to see how they are progressing. We have to remember, entering into last season, many had him pegged as a first-round talent.

Fans are disappointed in his goal production and are still asking the same question and my answer is a resounding no. Poitras has turned into an elite playmaker at this level and a playmaker will always have an easier time transitioning to pro hockey than the goal scorer will. If I had a do-over, Poitras would be much higher than where I had him.

The other player I want to touch on is Lohrei. There were fans in the thousands saying the Bruins should not trade Lohrei (at trade deadline). Yet some of those same fans are complaining because he didn’t have a big jump in production this season.

Well, Lohrei has matched his production with Ohio State from a season ago and yes, I may have put expectations a little high for him but he was coming off major knee surgery entering this season. I mean no one could possibly know how much that would affect him but it was evident early in the season that it was going to take some time for him to get up to speed. And once he was up to speed, we saw a better Lohrei. I’m not worried about this one season.

Duran was the one who stood out as a huh, for me. After a good start it feels like a bit of a disappointment year for him
