Most won’t even get to spooners level to be honest. Spooner technically was a good pick. He played a lot of pro hockey. In fact he still pretty productive player in the khl.

True Spooner was drafted 45th, and in a redraft he could go as much as ten spot higher.

Spooners ranking in his draft class (hand counted so could have made a mistake and been off by 1-2)

43rd in games played
32nd in goals scored
28th in both assists and points

NHL trade deadline is less than 2 weeks away and there was some internet chatter on Sunday about the Bruins looking to make a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets that would involve among other pieces, Mason Lohrei. I’m not sure there is any truth to the rumor as circulated and frankly, I find it ridiculous so if you missed it, I’m not even going to share it.

In speaking with a few people around the NHL however, they do believe Lohrei is the Bruins best trade chip. Even more than their first-round pick in 2023, even more than Fabian Lysell. The latter kind of surprised me but it’s the ole defenceman versus winger debate that we won’t get into right now.

I get to see zero Providence games, is Merkulov a legit prospect? Put up some pretty impressive numbers last season in college and having a great first pro season but was undrafted

Is this a star AHL player who won't translate to the NHL?

What does he do well? Whats his upside?

For a while there he was on a Krejci trajectory. But it never materialized in the end.

Not lohrei! I’ll be sad if they trade him. What if it’s for chychurn? But apparently he isn’t signed and can walk. Which makes coyotes hesitate I’m sure. Especially since I believe it’s happened to them before.

Imagine an all prospect trade? Wild idea. I wonder how high other gm rate the bruins prospects. All prospects for chychurn! :sarcasm:

They and we all were scratching our heads when they drafted Lohrei. Funny how things change.

Chychrun is under contract for 2 years past this one. But maybe that's what the sarcasm face was for.

That’s like the expectations for all the players knocking on the nhl door. It’s funny how a player can dominate every league and still not be effective at the nhl level.

we seem to like drafting people whose last name starts with the same letter...
Krejci Karsums Kalus Knight

Lohrei Lysell Locmelis.....
You have to select in alphabetical order otherwise it’s just straight up chaos. :sarcasm:

Seems like Merk's game is progressing nicely. Any chance he gets a cup of coffee with Boston this year? And if he continues his current development, when would he crack Boston full time? Next year? Year after? Thanks.
