Quick Summary:

Carlo was as expected, great shut down game with a little offensive spice thrown in.

Lauzon really impressed me, especially his defense.

Debrusk looked comfortable and seems to have a high "hockey IQ"

Commisso the kid they invited looked really good. He hustled, was involved on both sides of the puck and showed some nice grit in the corners.

Gryz looked as expected

Ogara was very aggressive tonight. Jumped into the flow a lot and was laying the body every chance he got.

Heinen was the same solid player I saw in Providence at the end of the season.

Zboril: Just not sold on him. Had two assists tonight, but wasn't overly enthusiastic about anything he did and looked disinterested. Maybe he's just so good it looks easy IDK.

Will be at the game tomorrow night as well and will post my thoughts.

Unapologetic Zboril fan here. During his first year in St John`s where his role was much different than in year two and he put up better numbers than last year, he wasn`t a kid who took over games or looked like a man amongst boys. He did things seamlessly, and when you looked at the box score you didn`t even notice he had picked up a point here and there.

The games vs the Mooseheads here were often very physical in nature, and IMO, games where the level of physicality is amped up seemed to be the one`s that had him engaged.

I drove down to Moncton to visit friends last year and caught a game between the Sea Dogs and Wildcats, not sure there was more than 20 hits all game and I didn`t notice him one bit but I`m still a big believer in this kid

Danton Heinen catches up to speed with Bruins
http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/bruins/2016/09/danton_heinen_catches_up_to_speed_with_bruins

BUFFALO — The ability to skate very fast is a great thing for hockey players, maybe the single most vital attribute on the skills checklist. But speed alone isn’t enough to guarantee success. That speed has to be a means to achieve a bunch of different on-ice ends.

Providence Bruins coach Kevin Dean, who is running the NHL team’s entry in a rookie tournament sponsored by the Buffalo Sabres, looks at first-year left winger Danton Heinen and sees a kid who can fly — and also play the game.

“I like everything,†said Dean about the 21-year-old Heinen. “He’s very smooth, but he does everything fast. Some of those smooth players, they’re smooth because they’re going three-quarters speed. But he’s getting up and down the ice pretty quickly — and he’s doing it under control, with his head up.

“That’s why he makes so many plays, because he doesn’t have to be contorted 100,000 ways to get going full speed. He can make plays at full speed and he’s under control doing it. He’s got great (hockey) IQ. He can really snap the puck. I think at his core he’s a pass-first ype of guy. It’ll be good to see him this year.â€

I don't think Zboril is disinterested, I think it's exactly what you said. He is so smooth that he looks like he's coasting. I made the comparison to Dan right away after watching him at DC, but don't remember if I posted it here...he is JD Drew on ice. People used to get upset with Drew because they thought he didn't care and was going half speed. The real story was that Drew just made it look effortless, and I believe that's the case with Zboril.

At DC, he was as seamless a skater as I have ever seen. In addition, he appeared to be getting along great with the other young guys, which seemed to kind of fly in the face of some reports that he was aloof and unlikable. I have high hopes for him still.

I'd add that not noticing a defenseman can be a good thing. When they just retrieve pucks efficiently, make simple quick outlet passes, play good angles and seal off the opposing forwards' time and space, they are doing their job, but not standing out. To the contrary, some defensemen, like Jack Johnson and Dion Phaneuf, stand out all game, yet always seem to kill their team by being out of position, looking for big hits and taking too many chances.

Now 4-1 after two periods of play.

Jesse Gabrielle an assist shy of a Gordie Howe Hat Trick.

Missed the first period. Quick observations Like what I'm seeing from Cehlarik. Bigger than I expected. Moves well. Reminds me of a quicker krejci. Think he will impress fans at camp. Bruin big D looking fast. Impressive. Sabres are getting outplayed big time. Lastly marchands brother. Gabriell. Going to be good a gem.
