Soderberg didn't come in the summer. He came during the season.

I believe I answered the question correctly.

Unless he comes after the Bruins season is over ie in the offseason.

And even then, because he signed his first contract in July 2012 as a 19 year old, and 5 years have elapsed, if he doesn't make the Bruins in September of 2018, he would have to clear waivers to go to Providence. He is also arbitration eligible.

But to the original question, and I am going off memory - I don't have time to look it up - but because he is not under contract and has played in Europe, he would have to clear waivers to come over once his season is done.

If someone could look it up and say "Dom you are wrong", that would be greatly appreciated.

I’m not comparing Frederic to Bergeron, but on Team Canada, 37 is a defensive specialist and PK guy. Doesn’t mean that’s all he’s got in his repertoire.

He's there property he's arbitration eligible if he doesn't make team he has to clear waivers like Malcolm Subban

I think if they bring him back he makes team signs a 2 year deal and avoids waivers

sounds accurate - the opposite case would be sobotka, who had an active contract with the blues so
he could come over in-season and honor that (burn it, more accurately )

Fun fact: Ted Donato was on the 92 Olympic team which was the last time amateur players were used.

With the larger ice surfaces and his speed yeah, great experience. He is up against all the guys playing for Canada in the excellent Spengler Cup tourney right now. That is pretty much the team with a few add ons. Most are pro's in Europe and some college and AHL guys.

Assuming Spooner is not re-signed (which is very much TBD given his strong play recently) how do we think Koko would look as C between DeBrusk and Bjork?

It's a smallish line - but if they are set as the 3rd line - and get favorable match-ups, they could make swiss cheese of opposing D. Also, Koko is a gritter player than Spooner (with exception of Spooner's rebirth as a sort of gritty guy!).

Only AHL guys on AHL-only deals (for example Chris Breen on Providence) are eligible to be named to Olympic national teams.

Its an NHL thing. No one signed to an NHL contract can go. Even if the team wanted a player to go they don't have the ability to release them (other than releasing them from there NHL contract).

Its an NHL thing. No one signed to an NHL contract can go. Even if the team wanted a player to go they don't have the ability to release them (other than releasing them from there NHL contract).

Not exactly. Players under an NHL contract in the AHL or ECHL will not be allowed to attend. Players in Canadian Major Junior or in Europe under an NHL contract are allowed to go because "they are not currently playing under their NHL contract." This was confirmed by Bill Daly and Gary Bettman.

So a guy like Koppanen, although under contract could play for Finland. Or a guy like Studnicka could play for Canada (although it won't happen)

Not sure he is a two way guy.....Looks more of a defensive oriented kid. May have offensive skill i dont know, But looks like more a solid shutdown type....Which is fine with me.
