Colangelo remains first among rookies in goals (tied with Dvorsky). He has points in 8 of 11 games.

Pastujov is 2nd in the ECHL with 7 goals in 8 games. It’s depressing following the ECHL because I just imagine him riding on a bus between Stateline and West Valley City and, man. You tour KC and Wichita and your home-sweet-home is Tulsa. That sucks.

Burnevik has two goals in the second period tonight.

Terrance has an assist.

Burnevik is now 6+5 in 11 games, point per game as a freshman so far. I'll be honest, I'm not my really sure what to make of him.

Burnevik is certainly making a case for himself to be more of a legitimate prospect and less of a late round flier, but of course like any prospect it remains to be seen how it will translate at the pro level.

He's huge and has an obvious knack for offense, that much is undeniable at this point, and the combination is super intriguing. Skating and intangibles will be the X factors in determining his potential.

It's worth noting that he's a pretty typical age for a freshman. Despite being an overage pick, he's still WJC eligible this year.

It's early, but he's in some good company among the NCAA's top WJC eligible (2005 born or later) scorers

Just wait and see? I remember being hyped up for Kukkonen when he was a goal scoring machine for a year... then it went away and still hasn't returned. Kukkonen is 5'10, though. Burnevik is 6'4 and 201 lbs already. Wouldn't mind having another late round, college find a la Terry. Still too early to say much except he's on a great start to his college career.

I didn't realize that both Kukkonen and Burnevik spent a season in the USHL with Madison.

Burnevik appears to have more goal scoring prowess than Kukkonen.

Here is Daily Faceoff's snippet on him as an eligible 2024 overager:

Austin Burnevik, RW, 19 (Madison, USHL)

Burnevik was part of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program last year but was left off the U-18 World Championship roster and was ultimately undrafted. But he has bounced back as a more well-rounded 19-year-old with the Capitols, playing at a 70-point pace. While the offense wasn’t there last year, scouts liked his 6-foot-3. 190-pound frame – but he’s added an inch and another 10 pounds over the past year. He knows how to use his frame to win battles and has great hockey sense and solid hands for his size. Burnevik’s skating is still a work in progress, but I doubt he will go undrafted this time around.

Kukkonen is a short, speedy offensive winger. Burnevik is a huge, slow offensive winger. Austin does feel like a late bloomer b/c his D+0 time with the US NTDP U18 and Junior was offensively meager at best. If Burnevik does work on his skating with St. Could State for the next couple of years, then he might turn up like another late round find.

Is investing in overagers with later round picks the new scouting grounds for the Ducks? I recall long ago the scouting group went after collegiate UDFA's such as Andy Mac, Chris Kunitz, and Dustin Penner under Bryan Murray. Then many years later the era of the Swedes with Rakell (rd 1), Lindholm (rd 1), Pettersson (rd 2), Larsson (rd 1), and Lundy (rd 1) with Bob Murray.

Overagers drafted recently
  • 2020 Rd 5 LW Galimov
  • 2021 Rd 4 C Lopina
  • 2022 Rd 4 C King, Rd 6 G Buteyets
  • 2023 Rd 3 RW Sidorov, Rd 5 LD Dionicio,
  • .......... UDFA G Suchanek signed to an AHL deal and then signed an ELC after the season
  • 2024 Rd 6 RW Burnevik

They’re actually in Stateline but close enough for a drive to someplace nice obviously. Of all the western conference teams it’s probably the best location.

Brand new venue too, looks good. Seems like Tulsa will spend a couple days up there playing back to back to backs between xmas and new year's. Might make for a nice holiday stop for fans.

Sennecke and Procyszyn's 12 goals have them tied for 8th in OHL goal scoring. Is Terrance finally heating up?

Callow didn't play in Harvard's third game. No idea why, but I didn't see any injury news on him on Google.

LD Uljanskis is ranked 9th in scoring for the Sweden's J20 National league. Another scoring defenseman from the Anaheim scouting group.

Clara has been participating in the International European (Hungary) with team Italy. I don't know much about this tourney, tbh. On Nov 7th, Clara pitched a shutout against Slovenia, 2-0. On Nov 9th, Clara earned another win, but let in 3 goals against Poland for a 5-3 win. Specific stats aren't shared where I've been looking online. Tourney stats for Clara so far: 2 games, 2-0-0, 0.941 Sv%, and 1.50 GAA. This break could help Clara reset himself when he returns back to the SHL.

Pitre's offense has come to life within the last two weeks.
Luneau's short tenure in San Diego doesn't look great defensively.
No idea what has happened to Gaucher. He's a 4C in recent games.

Colangelo is a very pleasant surprise in our system

Asked about Terrance in the Erie Otters section, his production has been quite slow to start the year (just 11 points in 17 games) in a D+2 season in which you'd hope to see him dominate the OHL. They actually had pretty positive reports of his overall game though, and the numbers are a bit less alarming with some context.

Yup. Sometimes, it takes a while for a few prospects to get going. Colangelo's has had ups and down during four years in college as well as being yoyo-ed about by Verbeek at the end of last season. Verbeek didn't sign Colangelo until he looked great in San Diego under a PTO. WTF is that all about?!

Another thing that's surprising is how many of our San Diego prospects are lackluster under year 2 of McIlvane. I'm glad that Colangelo's talent is rising above it.

Ducks missed out on a lot of draft gems.

Andrew Cristal in 2023 at 40th overall.

Top 5 in WHL scoring.

24 points in 9 games.

Luca Pinella. 4th round pick in 2023.

23 points in 15 games.

Jacob Fowler. Canadians stud G prospect. Best goalie in NCAA. 3rd round 2023.

We suck at drafting F outside of the top 10 and that's a major problem.

You need 12 F.

You only need 6 D.

Yes, Myatovic was a bad pick. We get it. They missed a lot of guys in the 2nd round in 2023 because of that pick.

Not sure how you can say they missed on a guy that was taken 114th in the draft. Everyone missed him, multiple times. It's how the cookie crumbles.

The Ducks took Clara 9 picks before Fowler. They both look awesome and no reason to think that was a mistake.

And this idea that they are bad at drafting and developing forwards has been debunked no matter how you look at it, games played, or points, or top 6 forwards. During Madden's time they are average when it comes to Forwards, and the top team when it comes to defensemen.

It's obviously easy to get focused on your team, but some teams are really bad at drafting and developing. Ducks fans should be very grateful they are elite at developing defensemen and goalies.
