A thousand miles from nowhere
The Bruins are a team that, for lack of a better phrase, has had their heart ripped out of them. Losing their top two elite centers was a huge loss. Defensively too. Yes Zacha has shown periods of great play. And Coyle has exceeded expectations. And Poitras and Beecher are learning.
But losing the 200ft responsible game from those two players will show in stretches like this. Even Nosek's responsible center ice game is missed. If they can somehow "firm up their middle" (sorry, after Thanksgiving humor), I believe the rest of their game will fall into place.

There were shifts when the game was tied 3-3 when I thought the B's were in control and would stomp NY then a penalty against the B's and the game shifted . Overall I think the B's could dominate NY with the present roster. Just a couple of tweaks and stay out of the box.
Another month and rookie mistakes will lighten up.
And of course the goalies get back on track. Going to be ups and downs but mostly ups.

A 4 second encapsulation of the ineptness that is NHL refereeing.

Trouba has been fined $5k by DoPS, the maximum allowable amount, for the high stick/slash. So at least something has been done.

Beyond that the question here has to be did any of the refs see it when it happened? Reality is they're simply not going to spot everything. If it was missed, well so be it. But if an official saw it, and did nothing, then yeah that's a terrible call.

I‘m probably wrong about this but my first thoughts after reading that are…

1. pretty quick fine for a league that often seems to take too long to deal with such issues.

2. Not saying it was worse than McAvoy’s hit on OEL, but it definitely was as bad.

Just seems a little fishy.

A fine is not enough. He needs to be suspended. He is a dirty player who knows the league is too chicken shit to hold him accountable.

Unfortunately I'm not surprised. That's a full out baseball swing. Dangerous. Imagine if Marchy did that.
Tomorrow at work I'd like to clobber anyone who hasn't completed their open enrollment. Fine me $5. Well worth it.

Is that insane? Yes. Is it the equivalent of what you can do in the NHL? Also yes.

The 5k is lunch money and is a trash result for a McSorley type, intent to injure offense. He should have had a in-person hearing and a multi-game suspension. He makes 8M per year, so even a one game suspension would have cost him $97,560.97.

its reminds me of the marchand elbow to the face of johansson a little. marchand made it look like he was tangled up. so did trouba. but both in fact were legit and dirty. trouba shouldve gotten a 5 min penalty for that. too bad trent didnt hit the ice like a hab wouldve.
regsrdless a 5k fine is a joke. that shouldve bern 2 gsmes minimum.

There was a ref standing literally 3 feet away. There's a replay that shows the ref standing behind them with his arms up in the air.

Jacob Trouba would be tremendous Bruin. Pair him with McAvoy, could almost have Mitchell and Grizz on D, almost.
