Poor Brandon. What horrible luck.

At least it looks like the kind of injury that once healed, it doesn't leave lingering effects.

All the best, kiddo.

Terrible luck for Carlo, his season is likely over. But if there’s no ligament damage that would be a positive, I was quite nervous watching the replays.

Sucks. But thats what i figured it was . Just by how he went down and imagining pain in the legs how his skate dug in there.
The knee really doesnt get messed up on this.
If he is a qiuick healer he could be back soon. As the fibula isnt weight barring.
But the you risk him breaking other leg bones. Even tge femur

It looked to me a bit like what happend to Dale Hunter long time ago. Nords thought it was a career ending but came back with Caps ....Hope Carlo comes back completely healthy

So...how does media "know" it is a broken fibula?

This is why you wait for the team to release information about injuries like this.

If they aren’t saying straight out there’s a break (and they would know right off from xrays)

Who knows how bad it is?

Exactly...and I thought they had to wait for swelling to go down before they can make a diagnosis.

40 f***ing stitches...yikes. Yet there didn't seem to be a lot of blood on him when he left the ice.

Stinks about Brandon Carlo but as Alicat says I'll take a broken bone over a ligament/tendon tear anytime.

Bruce Cassidy updates Riley Nash & Charlie McAvoy:

Stitches inside the ear ... that sounds painful

Depends on when he can actually start skating again. He might be able to start skating in 5-6 weeks. If he's off skates for the entire 8 weeks, taking him up to June 1st, his season might be done. Also depends on if anyone else is injured by that point in time.

All in all, just terrible news.

Yes. A very significant blow to the Bruins post season hopes.

So the reports of Carlo having a broken fibula were premature, I take it. I wonder if the team is just being tight-lipped, or are they actually waiting for confirmation of what kind of injury it is after the swelling goes down?

I've had bad ankle sprains, and I know that they can take a long time to get back to 100%, if they ever do. As people often say, sometimes, depending on the circumstances, a break can be better than a sprain. Once the bone fuses together again, it's fused (as my doctor told me after I broke my foot), whereas soft tissue damage can take a long time to heal.

But I'm not Dr. Recchi and I stand to be corrected on any of these medical facts.
