Steve Conroy interview :
The coach said Jake DeBrusk (upper body) is almost back on skates.
Rick Nash, out with what’s been termed an upper-body injury since he was a late scratch for last Monday’s home game against Columbus, has not yet skated and Cassidy did not have a time frame on him. …

I imagine Backes will need to skate a bit with some battle drills before he’s ready. Even if it didn’t cut deep that scar will tight.

Good to hear Debrusk is skating. Hope Nash is on skates soon too.

My guess is McAvoy’s age helps him-hopefully he gets a few games in before the playoffs start so he can find his rhythm. It took him a few games after his surgery.

Nash

Upper body injury
But not skating
No time frame

Took preday skate but likely increased heart rate made this arise

Years back I was working in a wooded area clearing brush with another worker. We were using weedwackers with sawblades attached instead of the usual string. I see the other guy bending down while simultaneously thrusting that spinning blade (on full throttle) directly toward my midsection. I jumped back as fast as I could, but he still caught me real good on the side of my right thigh. It was nasty to say the least!

When I saw what happened to Backes, I immediately flashed back to my experience. No matter what I did - even simple walking - would open that wound up again. I imagine skating would be difficult to say the least. He's surely in better medical hands than I was, so I hope he returns soon. It is a scary experience getting cut deep like that.

I love the opening question “If you were an objective journalist like us...”
Love how candid he always seems to be. So refreshing from Claude and his guarded thoughts. You can see why the players would walk through a wall for Butch, he seems like one of the guys and is a fan of all the players

It's a real shame about Rick Nash. I'm sure he will deliver a lift whenever he returns.

I wasn't aware Nash had a previous head concussion history...

This is the hit that gave Rick Nash a concussion on 10/8/13. Brad Stuart delivered the shoulder to the head. He got suspended 3 games. Nash was out for 17 games.

On the Paquette hit on Nash on 3/17/18, Nash was knocked back about six feet after the hit.

I read the article, and it was pure speculation.

He was playing extremely well. He must be frustrated. To be honest I'm concerned about his health. The hit he took along the walls did not look unordinary and those hits will multiply 5x during playoffs. If he does come back he's taking a chance on his health and I can't see him playing the role the bruins expected when they acquired him. Perhaps a lesson learned for the future...

What lesson would that be?
