Day to day to day to day to day

Boston's bench boss said none of the other injured players <aside from possibly Bergy> that did not travel would be available on the trip. Torey Krug, who did not play on Wednesday night because of an upper-body injury, is day-to-day.
And just in case you need a refresher, here's a look at the Bruins' injury report. All are considered day-to-day, with the exception of Charlie McAvoy, who has missed nearly three weeks with a sprained MCL in his left knee.
  • David Backes (right leg laceration)
  • Patrice Bergeron (fractured right foot)
  • Zdeno Chara (upper-body)
  • Jake DeBrusk (upper-body)
  • Torey Krug (upper-body)
  • Charlie McAvoy (upper-body)
  • Rick Nash (upper-body)

I'm guessing/hoping that the Bruins are (rightly) erring on the side of caution with most of these injuries. They have put themselves in a position where points are not at a premium (sorry Andy), so they can concentrate on getting healthy. In past years the player might gut it out, and/or get some medical 'help' to play through it, and we'd never hear about it....or maybe not hear about it until after they get knocked out of the playoffs. This year it's the day-to-day parade.

Pretty sure I saw an interview that said barring infection Backes would be out about 7-10 days. I figure he won’t be seen in a game until next week but the Wild game could be a possibility but I’m guessing the Jets game if all goes well.

I think this growing list of injured players is as much about strategic resting of key personnel than it is about injuries. I think if we were in a playoff race 3/4 of these guys would be playing. This is a luxury the guys have earned and Cassidy is being smart to manage a very tough schedule. I think we need to calm down and understand what is going on and stop feeling sorry for ourselves - I don’t think we are as unlucky as we think.

yeah. Im guessing Backes plays the Winnipeg game.
Bergy will prob play Sunday against Minny.

McAvoy Im guessing next week he'll be practicing.

I'm not worried about McAvoy coming into a playoff series unaccustomed to NHL play for a period of time, so hopefully everyone else is back by then. Bruins are playing some good hockey all things considered.

I don’t think they are fake injuries but agree that many of these day to day ones would be playing in the playoffs.

However-Bruins aren’t fighting for a playoff spot and I think are really trying to get these key players healthy so they aren’t playing injured.

As long as the team is winning it’s games and not giving up ground to the Leafs I don’t think they will rush anyone back. Right now it’s about being healthy for the playoffs.

There are no fake injuries here but as said before I have no doubt in my mind most of the day to Day players would be in the lineup if the playoffs started today or if we were fighting for our season. Especially, Chara, Nash, Bergeron and Krug.

I dunno, that Bergeron guy is a noted slacker. Goofing off with a minor league team when he should be playing NHL games. :sarcasm:

When are the Bruins expecting the big guys back?

Devils really need the Bruins to do them a few favors against the Panthers considering you guys play them three times to end the yar.

With how the playoffs schedule, I'm comfortable if we even get some of them back game 3. So there's some time. Get Bergeron, Charlie and Chara back and work your way from there. But gotta start with those 3.

I think Chara benefits the most here. He typically logs a ton of minutes, so this stretch of rest will hopefully help him come playoff time.

Yes what gives with Nash? Was hoping he’d be back and building chemistry with Krejci.

Not sure if anyone has posted anything about this, but finally some (good) news about Chara. Interesting that Rick Nash hasn’t skated. Wonder what the heck happened to him:

Of the other wounded players, Cassidy said that Zdeno Chara — out the last five games with an upper body injury — has begun skating and the coach said that Charlie McAvoy could begin skating as early as Saturday. McAvoy has been out since suffering an MCL sprain March 3, missing the last 10 games. Rick Nash and Jake DeBrusk have not yet begun skating while Torey Krug (upper body) is with the team and skating. He could be available for Sunday’s game against the Wild.

Bruins notebook: Patrice Bergeron cleared to travel, could play Sunday in Minnesota

Seems at this point that our second line wingers are the biggest concern.
